There’s a good chance you don’t have to run out and get an old XP computer to do this, as it could quite likely be done with Win7 or 8, and maybe 10.

There’s software out there called virtual machine. It allows you to install any old operating system on your current computer. I’m using Windows 2000 right now on my Windows 7 64 bit computer where I can run any old program I want dating back to the mid 90’s, including some 16 bit programs.

All you need is the virtual machine software (it’s free) and a valid copy of Windows XP.

There is a software application called Audacity—it is free. I use it to record my LPs but it is just as useful for recoding Pandora or Jazz 24/7.

This person is sadly mistaken. There are other reasons to miss certain aspects of XP, but I record streams all the time in Win 7. I would not want to be connected to the Internet with an XP machine that can’t be updated. My preferred recording tool is Audiograbber, but RadioSure works quite well, too.

There are a number of download addons for Firefox for grabbing YouTube videos or just the audio portions as mp3 files.

I’m going back to XP, but not for this. I have expensive applications that I require for work; and, they don’t really work correctly under Win7.
