If you can't say anything nice, you must be a liberal. Seriously, is there ANYTHING left that doesn't have racist undertones anymore?
The anti-South/anti-Confederacy craze is still around, in case you'd forgotten. Admittedly, there's a lot that's been going on lately - but the language police are still rounding up words and symbols and history that remind anyone anywhere of slavery in America. It's not enough that they have to dig up long-dead Confederate generals or vandalize monuments or steal private property. Nope. Now they're banning the word "Dixie."
According to this, progressives in North Carolina want to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair because the term "Dixie" is racist. For. Real. From the article - Councilman James Taylor told FOX8 that some folks find the word offensive and some folks are angry with the name. He said that as a progressive city they need a name that everyone can appreciate. [...]
The Dixie Classic Fair has been around since the 1950s and nobody around town seems to be all that irate according to FOX8. They said their reporters could not find a single person who took offense at the name.
I thought it was ridiculous, resident Dina Nelson told the television station. I mean, theres no reason to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair. I mean, its a Southern name but theres nothing racist about it.
It's no dumber than a professor trying to get Dixie State University in St. George, Utah to change its name. And as well all know, Utah was such a central point of the Confederacy... oh wait - NO IT WASN'T! I've mentioned this before - "Dixie" was a nickname given to Southern Utah because early settlers in the 1840s and 1850s worked to grow cotton and other crops associated with the American South because they wanted to be self-sufficient and not depend on importing those goods from elsewhere. They planted, raised, and picked their own cotton without any slaves AT ALL. And THAT'S where the school took its name from - it has NOTHING TO DO with the Confederacy! Geez...
What else do we have to ban now? Winn-Dixie grocery stores, for one. By extension, the super-adorable movie (and book it's based on) "Because of Winn-Dixie." And one of my all-time favorite video game characters from one of my all-time favorite video games, Dixie Kong (I freaking LOVE "Donkey Kong Country 2" for Super Nintendo. One of the few times a sequel was even better than the - already excellent - original.)
List 'em off in the comments. What else will we probably lose because liberals see racism under every rock and tree (and Dixie Cup)?
Will Winn-Dixie need to change their name? Will the south become offensive and need to be renamed the lower north? Stupid, silly, asinine people showing their rear-ends. I laugh at them but they certainly are annoying.
The song “Dixie” was written by a black man, before the Civil War.
As of today they are the Yankee Chicks. :^D
“Councilman James Taylor told FOX8 that some folks find the word offensive and some folks are angry with the name.”
You got a name, now you need an address. If conservatives in this community are too cowardly to take on this left wing fascist, then you all deserve to wear the chains.
I have posted on the power of political correctness that is going on in England. Many young girls were exploited and raped by Pakistani men who had them in prostitution rings. This went on for twenty years and though it was reported to child services and the police nothing was done about it because everyone was scared of being called Islamophobic. Political correctness is extremely dangerous, it is the modern day equivalent of the Salem With Trials.
I was aware of the Rotherham rape scandal, as well as the grumblings of another city with the exact same problem.
Police wouldn’t profile Pakistani Muslim men who groomed 10-14 year old white girls, raped at least 1400, fathered at least a hundred interracial kids as proof, got at least 2 dads arrested for trying to save their daughters, saw teachers and social workers sent to diversity training for pointing out the problem and police who blamed victims and classified it as consensual to avoid being called racist for having only Pakistani muslims targeted in an investigation.
What a coincidence! I had a job on a Dixie St. this afternoon and it just popped into my head for a second, “Wonder who’s offended by that street sign...”
The President of the United States said, “Its not whether or not its polite to say ‘nigger’ in public”.
So I dont understand what all the hub-bub is all about.
Your right to not be offended retreated in defeat to England in 1783.
Wow, you can see that the insanity comes from the top down. The people who were trying to do the right thing were intimidated by their bosses and their bosses’ bosses. The ruling class is insane in any western country and it is always about political correctness.
Works for me!
I am so sick of this!
I am so sick of this!
Well, remember, I wasn’t around in the ‘50s and ‘60s, but I’ve heard of WLAC (it became a talk radio station later, broadcasting Rush Limbaugh, et al).
It’s still there today, turns 90 years old next year (November 2016).

Dixie State University is located in St George UT. It has the name to honor history wherein cotton was grown there during civil war times. Some PC, uninformed, racist student complained a couple years ago that the name was racist. He was a black student apparently brought there on a scholarship. This created considerable turmoil in the community. However, large contributors to the school threatened to withdraw support. The student shut up (and apparently left the school). The school remains Dixie State University. One must stand-up to these PC idiots.
Alabama License Plate Historian Recounts 'Heart of Dixie' History
The constitution of Alabama states that the term "Heart Of Dixie" must be on all Alabama vehicle plates.(It's been made so small that you can hardly read it now)
