For some reason these pictures make me think of William Gibson's novel "Count Zero". There is an AI in orbit within a damaged space station. It takes detritus from the station and assembles it into assemblages or "boxes" (like the artist Joseph Cornell). These boxes occasionally show up on earth and become sought after art objects.

Eventually someone goes into orbit and "meets" the AI which says something like: "These boxes are what I dream."
The human says: "You dreams are full of sadness."
The AI replies: "No. My dreams are of time and distance. The sadness is in you."

I've never thought of art the same way since reading that.
