In a disturbing piece published in NY Mag, Michael Sonmore said that he's okay with his wife having sex with random men because he's a feminist.
The article is titled, "What Open Marriage Taught One Man About Feminism" and details Sonmore's "open" relationship with his wife.
It begins with this paragraph (emphasis mine): "As I write this, my children are asleep in their room, Loretta Lynn is on the stereo, and my wife is out on a date with a man named Paulo. Its her second date this week; her fourth this month so far. If it goes like the others, shell come home in the middle of the night, crawl into bed beside me, and tell me all about how she and Paulo had sex. I wont explode with anger or seethe with resentment. Ill tell her its a hot story and Im glad she had fun. Its hot because shes excited, and Im glad because Im a feminist."
Sonmore then writes about a realization he had: "It wasnt until my wife mentioned one evening that shed kissed another man and liked it and wanted to do more than kiss next time that I realized how my status as a Man depended on a single fact: that my wife [expletive] only me."
According to Sonmore, he realized not letting his wife sleep with other men was part of the Patriarchy: "She didnt present it as an issue of feminism to me, but after much soul-searching about why the idea of my wife having sex with other men bothered me I came to a few conclusions: Monogamy meant I controlled her sexual expression, and, not to get all womens-studies major about it, patriarchal oppression essentially boils down to a mans fear that a woman with sexual agency is a woman he cant control."
He continues, "We are afraid that when it comes time for sex, they wont choose us. This petty fear has led us as a culture to place judgments on the entire spectrum of female sexual expression: If a woman likes sex, shes a whore and a slut; if she only likes sex with her husband or boyfriend, shes boring and lame; if she doesnt like sex at all, shes frigid and unfeeling. Every option is a trap."
Sickeningly, Sonmore writes, "The point is that it should be women who choose, not men even the men theyre married to. For my wife, the choice between honoring our vows and fulfilling her desires was a false choice, another trap."
Then he explains when he became a feminist: "When my wife told me she wanted to open our marriage and take other lovers, she wasnt rejecting me, she was embracing herself. When I understood that, I finally became a feminist."
No borders, no rules, no laws, no Constitution, no morals, no shame. Liberalism.
This sounds like something out of a Hustler Letters to the Editor from the 1970s.
Hmm.. how many diseases do they have so far?
Destruction of marriage and the family nearly complete.
Last Days
...and she’s married to an idiot.
Well, she’s got HIS little bojangles in a lockbox.
Feminist “men” don’t really have much choice.
An astonishing worldview, but not surprising in this post-truth era.
The God of Israel is sharpening his sword.
Any man who marries a feminist has low or no self-respect.
He’s not a feminist. He’s well on his way to being a divorcee.
This is called "cuckolding".
If it happened to me, I'd end up in the newspaper headlines.
Just sayin'.
In reading the posted material that I decided that that was enough for me. My wife is welcome to have an open relationship just not with me, I will be leaving, or she will. The very fact that your doing this means you DO NOT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP. JEES!!!>
Fixed it.
feminist = fool
The dude in the article probably also enjoys a good “pegging.”
Because he’s a feminist.
So, Michael...
How about a picture and a contact number for your wife?
She seems like a cheap date, maybe Taco Bell and a couple beers...
