Kinky Boots – Forever!

KinkyBoots_Poster_MHWeb-300x300Of course it’s a musical! With TransJenders!

Kinky Boots: A drag queen comes to the rescue of a man who, after inheriting his father's shoe factory, needs to diversify his product if he wants to keep the business afloat.

That’s right, the entire first female family went to Broadway to watch the Tony Award winning Kinky Boots. Why? Because we’re on vacation! And we’re not going to Martha’s Vineyard for another 4 weeks.

First Lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters brought their dancing shoes to the Saturday matinee of the hit Broadway show “Kinky Boots.”

The First Family, despite the efforts of Secret Service agents to get them to leave, danced and clapped in the aisles after the curtain fell at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, tweeted playwright Harvey Fierstein. – NY Daily News

And believe me, if anyone knows about kinky boots, it’s Lady M.

Scary, yes, butt this is the kinky boot - coming soon to a theatre near me - that frightens me:

P.S. Tell me your grandkids won’t be singing these songs 25 years from now:

I wonder if Broadway will give us a family friendly musical about a conservative businessman who gives 10% of his profits to charity, who has a normal family that goes to church and live with Jesus?

I guess it would be boring...like 95% of conservatives, who are normal..

Lost my words over the vomitous nature of those photographs.

Actually, it’s a novelty song from “The Avengers” Brit TV show of the 60’s. It recently made a resurgence, IIRC.

Not a bad movie, actually. The English company was (briefly) saved by getting into the niche making of kinky boots for male transvestites. But a couple years later Asian companies got into the niche and drove them OOB.

Correction, it appears the company is still in business, or at least one of the same name in the same location.

Saw the movie several years ago...before o-king and mo-queen had been ‘seated’ on the throne. Must say that I enjoyed the movie and the wonderful spirit of the young factory owner who not only wished to save his father’s business, but to keep people who wished to be employed, employed. The ‘kinky boots’ creator/designer was admired as well. He/she/it wanted to help do the same and attempted to do so. That being said...the film was viewed tongue in cheek without the surrounding ohoop-la around US today. The movie, having no musical aspects certainly was not the same act currently produced for Broadway elites.

I rather enjoyed the film as well... the message of an industry dying at the hands of southeast Asian sweatshop slave labor was what I took away from it.
