Prayers please. This fire is 16 miles from my daughter's home in North Idaho. It was apparently set yesterday by careless campers. Bayview is on the shore of Lake Pend Orielle, ID, a popular vacation area.
I don't believe this particular fire is a threat to my family, but the entire area is at risk. 16% relative humidity today and strong winds. Reporters are saying this is a very dangerous fire that "could blow up."
I know there are other FReepers in the area.

Thanks, Paladin2. Scary to see how many fires are burning now in the NW and Alaska.
Both of my kids work in SAndpoint, at the north end of Lake Pen d’Orielle. Haven’t heard, but I’m sure the smoke is bothering them.
Interesting videos of this fire from the very beginning on youtube. You can see the covered boat docks and part of the little town, which hopefully stay safe.

This tiny fire is now 2000 acres and growing. Everyone in North Idaho needs prayers.
We saw the smoke come up from Cape Horn in its earl;y stages. We thought to ourselves that this could be a really bad one. We made our bi weekly trip to the local garbage dump in Athol (formerly know as the Athol Mall before they started watching it full time)and then headed down into Bayview for lunch at Ralph’s Coffee Shop. Ralph had the scanner up ,and we could hear it go from bad to worse to extremely bad. I had almost finished my burger (really good there) when the first evac advisory came over the scanner. Ralph shut down right then and there and we hightailed it out of there.
There are a lot of nice places in amongst big trees all over that area. Perimeter Road is a narrow, twisty bottleneck of a road. Got closed down early on by a rockslide.
We can smell the smoke over here today - we’re about 8 miles east of that area. So we’re on full alert with hoses and heavy equipment at the ready.
Its windy today in Moyie. Hopefully its mot as windy in Bayview.
Thanks for the first-hand report, Noumenon. Hope you stay safe from this and all fires.
Thanks davidb56. Stay safe.
Town of Bayview is closed to outsiders today. No containment of fire yet.

Is the Henley Aerodrome still active in Athol...learned to skydive there back in the early ‘70’s.
That fire could go all the way to Montana if it’s as dry as they say.
Yep - still active.
They had some gorgeous replica aircraft, bi and tri wings.
I used to live in Hayden. Travelled all over N. Idaho for my job. Prayers up to everyone up there.
Bayview is on the western shore of Lake Pend Orielle, but conceivably the fire could send cinders into the wind to the eastern shore and on across the Panhandle National Forest toward Montana
I’ve been praying for rain for weeks.
So you know what a gorgeous area it is ..thanks to lakes and millions of trees.
Thanks, for the prayers, OneBob.
Ah. I haven’t lived in Idaho since ‘77 (near Fernwood). I assumed it was the old resort on the East side...not too far from I-90 (south)
That resort may still be there .just don’t know.
Prayers for the residents and the fire fighters.
