Hillary Clintons communications director is defending the campaigns decision to rope off reporters during a weekend parade.
We try to give as much access as possible, but my view is, it can't get in the way of her being able to campaign, Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri said Monday on MSNBC's Morning Joe.
I wasn't there, but I saw some press reports that described it as chaotic, so they put the rope up so that the parade could continue and that she could talk to voters.
Palmieri said that she understands the media's frustrations over access and acknowledged that they pay a price with the press over the lack of availability.
But the campaign's decision to prioritize smaller meetings with voters over interactions with the press is colored by lessons Clinton learned from the 2008 campaign, where she fell from the smart-money favorite to lose the Democratic nomination to future President Obama, Palmieri said.
She's been Secretary of State. For four years she hadn't been able to campaign. She wanted to do a lot of one-on-ones, you cant do that forever in a country of 300 million people, but she really wanted to get that part done before we started talking to the national media, Palmieri said.
The press is important, but they are not as important as voters, but they are an important part of the process and now we are ready to do, she's been doing a lot of national interviews.
OK so did she talk to any voters? Or any Dem plants along the route?
Ah , when is Hillary starting her campaign ? LOL
LOL? Why is she any different than all of the politicians who have run for office since the founding of America.
She’s not user friendly. This rope deal was totally offensive....not defensive.
“Clinton press aide defends rope line - media “can’t get in the way of her being able to campaign””
Hilarious. The Beast does not talk to voters unless a TV camera is running; otherwise, a voter has to send his message through one of the Beast’s intermediaries, along with a large check.
Great idea, Hillary. Let’s piss off the media for a change.
Did these Reporters forget to Donate to the Clinton Foundation ,LOL
these 2 were following Hillary down the street ,I bet that will be fixed next time
Brings new meaning to the term ‘CircleJerks’.
But no other candidate requires this. What’s wrong with Hillary! that she needs such protection?
Ha! Is this what they’re going with? Lame!
Maybe she just doesn’t want them to get close ups of her wrinkles.
so that the parade could continue and that she could talk to voters [without there being a record of what she said]. Brackets mine.
The Queen of America is just showing her arrogant contempt for the mediabots who adoringly follow her around fixating on her every word and inhaling her very essence.
Any truth to the rumor that the Hillary campaign has ordered a large quantity of dog leashes?
Hillary approved media questions:
” As a strong women with many accomplishments how are you able to advance ideals that are positive while enduring negative attacks by those who would turn back the clock for women, gays, immigrants, and people of color?”
” Due to the fact that your campaign for the White House is breaking the ultimate glass ceiling how have you dealt with being the inspiration for millions of women and girls and yet keep your famous humility and sense of perspective while making history?”
“As a Mother and Grandmother sharing the hopes and dreams of millions of women today what are the things that you feel that we need to do today to bring about true gender equality?”
The Hillary campaign will allow stenographers, I mean reporters to ask these and other approved preselected questions offered to them to help educate the American voter to assist them to come to the correct decision that it’s her turn.
She’s counting on folks thinking the “paparazzi media” is pesky and a nuisance, and, like Princess Diana, she’s just trying so hard to operate around the media to talk to the “real folk.” She’s trying to get SYMPATHY. She’s hoping the low-infos will forget she is also not responding to questions.
