Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is set to announce the expansion of summer job opportunities for the youth on Wednesday.
Officials say the annual goal is to offer 5,000 positions to youngsters through Baltimores YouthWorks program, which provides jobs to residents between the ages of 14 and 21. However, officials say this year they received nearly 8,000 applicants and are seeking funds to offer a paid experience to all who applied.
On Wednesday, the mayor, along with other representatives will announce an update to the citys efforts to those opportunities.
Marcus Washington will have the latest on this story tonight on WJZ.
Looting made easy. Arson for the masses. Just a couple of basic jobs for instructors.

???????
Jobs doing what? Working for whom? And who is paying these people to do those jobs?
I think we all know who’s paying for those jobs.
1. Next to nothing. 2. The government or some NGO/Community organization. 3. You are.
Let’s hope the street thugs reject thuggism, go straight, and apply for the jobs to become productive, useful, honest members of society.
Just show up and put your hand out
It’s just as bad as it sounds. It isn’t about any work needing to be done, it’s about stuffing $10 an hour into as many baggy pants pockets as possible to maybe get the crime rate down a percentage point or two for several weeks. +
Feel-good Liberal programs that end up costing real tax dollars to be flushed down the drain.
Make-work, incarnate.
These “jobs” are temporary for a few weeks or months.
They’ll have them pick up trash along the roadside for an hour or two so the citizenry sees them, then back into the shuttle buses to the air-conditioned rec center to play city ball, horseplay and gossip the rest of the day.
And I'll be ice skating in my southern Arizona outdoor rink in the middle of summer.
When I was growing up, the military had this type of program for dependents, summer hire program. Any organization on base could apply for and get a summer hire teen (or multiple teens) to work for them 20 hours a week. All at minimum wage. Most of the jobs were mowing lawns, swinging idiot sticks, and picking up trash. Kids who signed up for the program got whatever job they were assigned. My suspicion is that’s not what these jobs are.
...the instructors could care less if or not the people understand what they're speaking about. Further questions were not answered even remotely adequately, and those questions were significant.
It was as though they picked someone off the street and gave them a script to instruct with....absolutely terrible how it was conducted. So there is no wonder to me these programs to not reach those needed to reach.
Any jobs at the CVS pharmacy?
Loot and burn your city and Team 0dumbo will write you a check using tax payer funds.
They can put the “yutes” to work cleaning up the messes they made while rioting — I mean “demonstrating”.
