By The Way, I was 110% right on with Stannis and Brianne and Shireen.
The Screenwriters thought "Hmmm... If we are going to have Stannis and Brianne go at it, the Audience has come to like Stannis and if we want Brianne to come out top we gotta have him do something Bad so we don't like him any more....I Know! Lets KILL SHIREEN! That way it gets the Baratheons out of the way and give The Audience a reason to root for Brianne instead "Da Renlys" all the back in Season Two! What Could Possibly Go Wrong!?"
I’ve kinda lost interest this season. I could barely make it through last episode, and didn’t even try tonights. I’m wondering if GoT is losing it.

Thought Stannis demise would be a little more dramatic.

It seems like he is downplaying how much influence he has on the show in that statement, but maybe I am misreading it.
I think your summary of Stannis’ killing of his daughter as it relates to the scene with Brienne is a very likely scenario.
So now that Stannis is gone, his army is gone, and his entire family is gone, that seems to get rid of most of the story conflicts in the north - except for the White Walkers, which no one outside of the Night’s Watch seems to think are a problem.
I guess Sansa and Theon are still a storyline. Where will they go? Will they try to go to the Night’s Watch because Jon was the Lord Commander there?

The Death of Shireen (and to a lesser extent the rape of Sansa, but that has not happened in the books in any way shape or form to her) and Now the Death of Stannis and Jon Snow will cause a MASSIVE Disinterest in the Show and I think Martin understands with that comes More Disinterest in his Books....
Because people don't want to see that Happen or feel like the Show has ruined it for them and won't read them.
Those things (Jon Snow I hear did actually happen though) WILL be a Pox and Bane for viewership and ratings for the coming seasons.
