This is the Game of Thrones S05e10 discussion thread. If you haven't seen this episode yet there may be spoilers here.
Sons of the Hypey.
Even 'dis guy could not get me more hype, and believe me, 'dis guy is professional fight hype!
Normally, I just hate CGI, I mean I can’t stand it because it’s just so common place now.
But got to give the effects guys props, the dragons look great, and I love Drogon. That scene was believable.
So what are everyone’s theories on Jon Snow?
Is he dead-dead? Kit Harrington has done interviews where he says that Jon Snow is dead and he won’t be in season 6. But it seemed awfully coincidental to me that Melisandre returned to Castle Black right before the Night’s Watch killed him “for the Watch” (FTW).
I’m thinking that Kit won’t appear next season, but he’ll be back in season 7 (kind of like with Bran or The Mountain). Melisandre will bring him back somehow, and he’ll be “reborn”. He will be free of his vows to the Night’s Watch, because he will have been “dead”. Not sure what he’ll do then.
Drogon looked very realistic!
I’ve read the books. I’ve not watched much of the series. From my perspective, it’s not Jon Snow who is the very important Stark family member. Bran, on the other hand, is the one to watch.
Bran is/will be important, but he can’t do it all by himself. And there are fewer Children of the Forest to help out this time, too.
I’m told that HBO’s gatekeepers are very queer nation
And they pressured Weiss and Benioff from jump street if they wanted a green light
Martins attitude was he thought it silly but if that got him his money.......
The Homosexual lobby is without question omnipotent in media and Tinseltown
Gay is the new Jew stereotypically speaking in Hollywood
Just look at the Out magazine top 50 gay Hollywood power brokers
It’s disgusting how they propagandize our youth
ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN!
CHOOOOOOO-CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I don’t think he’s dead-dead, either in the book or on the show.
Bookjon and Showjon will both be revived by Mad Mel. She sees King’s Blood in him (hence why she wanted to make another Coochie Monster with him), and now that Stannis the Mannis has been defeated, she’s going to turn her sights full-bore on Jon. Why bring her back to the NW at the end, if not to perform some R’hllorish miracle on him? I don’t think they’ll stay at the wall though. My prediction:
- Jon’s body is taken to the ice cells (hence Bran’s dream in book 1 where he saw Jon (pale and cold, his skin growing hard as the warmth of his blood left him - paraphrase)).
- Mad Mel revives him and they flee - possibly to Eastwatch - and cross the narrow sea to Essos - this could be how he meets up with Dany. Or, he meets up with Arya in Braavos. If he’s truly Azor Ahai, then he’s got some more work to do before he can assume the mantle.
Bookjon most likely warged into Ghost as he was being stabbed, and will range for a while until his body is revived. The prologue chapter of ADWD was all about a skinchanger debating the morality of warging into animals and people on a permanent basis. GRRM wouldn’t have that chapter there at the beginning needlessly. I think there’s more there. Anyway.
Now, Kit’s interview stated that he was done with the show. That’s either the truth or a lie, obviously:
- If it’s the truth, then he’s either dead-dead (which doesn’t make sense to the storyline from any practical standpoint), or he’s already filmed his scenes from Season 6, and he’ll just have one or two while the show focuses on some of the other storylines (Sansa/Theon, Dorne Plot, Victarion/Euron/Kingsmoot/Dragonhorn, Varys/Tyrion in Mereen - there’s plenty of source material to fill a season)
- If it’s a lie, then he told it obviously as to not destroy the cliffhanger.
I also don’t think Showstannis is dead. He may still very well be Azor. His “steel” was tempered once with water (his defeat at Blackwater Bay), once by the blood of a lion (his defeat at the hands of Lannister pawns), and a third time by his ultimate sacrifice of his daughter, and by proxy, his wife. Just like Azor. He could very well head back to the wall, become the 1000th Lord Commander, and get tons of dragonglass from Dragonstone to defend the wall from the Others.
>>Bran, on the other hand, is the one to watch.<<
Absolutely. He’s much more powerful than Bloodraven, and will use the weirwoods and beasts of the world as a massive tool to help. He’s been able to see the past, present, and future through the trees. My bet is that he’s the one that communicate’s Jon’s parentage to him through the trees - having seen Rhaegar and Lyanna get married in a godswood.
Bloodraven told him he’d be able to fly...and there are three wily & untamed dragons that need some discipline...hahaha
I HOPE you are correct on all points. But I just can't see Brianne letting Stannis live.
All that Build-Up of Avenging "Da Renlys", I can't see her finding it in her heart to let him go.
We are going to need something next Season other than Arya The Blind and Bran The Boring.
>>All that Build-Up of Avenging “Da Renlys”, I can’t see her finding it in her heart to let him go.<<
I thought that too, but then thought more on his line - “Go on. Do your duty.” Might have struck her that her duty to protect Sansa is greater than her desire for vengeance. Perhaps it changed her mind, and she just struck the tree above his head (another off-screen “death” cliffhanger). She’s not a murderer. I can see her bringing a wounded Stannis to Winterfell as an exchange for Sansa or something along those lines.
It was interesting how they showed Stannis’ death off camera. Most of the time, they show deaths on camera (Ned Stark, the Red Wedding, Joffrey, etc.). On the other hand, there was Syrio Forel.
Maybe you’re right and they’re not quite done with Stannis yet. However, he did have a pretty bad leg injury, and Brienne isn’t a healer. I guess we will have to wait and see.
>>On the other hand, there was Syrio Forel.<<
That’s why I’m holding out for the Syrio = Jaquen H’ghar reveal in the next novel.
I mean, c’mon. Syrio’s fighting Meryn Effing Trant, Arya runs away, we presume Syrio dies, then a few days later Jaquen appears in a prison cart from the dungeon, and just happens to take an interest in Arya, to the point of giving her a Faceless Man coin?
And all the while afterwards, Meryn Effing Trant is totally silent about killing the First Sword of Braavos? C’mon...Meryn’s a grade-A jerk. He’d be bragging all over King’s Landing about that if it really happened.
I was kind of hoping to see Syrio’s face in all of those faces that Arya ran through when she was looking at the dead “Jaquen H’ghar” in the House of Black and White. No luck (so far).
David Geffen has been doing it for over 30 years. Big queer.
Bump.
