ESPN has damaged the credibility of the Arthur Ashe “ESPY” Courage Award by planning to give the award to reality show actor Bruce Jenner for what appears to be nothing more than an elaborate publicity stunt. Jenner claims he’s now a female character called “Caitlyn” but admits he hasn’t had, and doesn’t plan to have, an operation to change his body from male to female....I might let him get away with this farce if there weren’t much better qualified candidates for the award.

100% correct. I want to read about the worst ratings ever for the show and i do want to read about how many people got canned for making this awful decision.

But, a blurb to “all” stating we are close to ending this thing and to throw $5 into the bucket is not spam.
He lost his mind you realize. For a long time he was the center of the conversation. Then this whole stupid fascination with the Kardashians. Suddenly he was spare piece.
This whole thing is nothing more than him wanting the limelight again. His ego drove him crazy. And ESPN is playing right along for the ratings.
It might be possible to believe his ‘urges’ if he had the operation. I for one won’t be watching ESPN again and it has nothing to do with Jenner himself but the passing over of two very deserving people.
he can’t tolerate not being in the limelight and he can’t handle getting older. Two birds with one dress as it were.
How about giving it to some ATHLETE from THIS DECADE that has displayed courage?
When was the last time bruce jenner competed in a real athletic event?
Anyone wanna bet he gets time mags Person of the Year?
It takes perhaps a smidgen of courage t do what Mr. Jenner did and a whole lot of avarice. He had his publicity crew lined up and contracts made before he announced. And if he only pretends to get the “SRS” he can pocket that bucket of millions and resume where he left off when he ostentatiously took that side trip.

The irony is if he/she had any real courage, Jenner would refuse the award.
Now,now. You’re all being so harsh on ESPN. After all, they do employ that pillar of the community, Keith Olberman. Maybe he got to choose!
In the olden days Bruce would not have been killed for being a deviant. We simply would have taken him to the edge of our village and kicked his ass out. Exile. Outcast. Whatever.

I certainly don’t have the courage to go after my own genitals with a chainsaw, but neither does Bruce Jenner (not that “courage” is quite the right word for that mutilation). What he’s doing is simple mental illness, and it’s very sad.
I might let him get away with this farce if he took a DNA test which confirmed he to be a she... Might...

Now the “normal” are the outcast and the freaks are celebrated.
