I've personally long been an advocate of "reactive" policing...come when called to end a crime in progress, if possible, or to clear up the leftovers after the constitutionally armed citizens have taken care of the problem.

Yeah, once such a policy was in place, there would be a temporary uptick in violence, but it would settle out if left alone.

Of course the sine qua non of the success of such a measure is the repeal of unconstitutional gun laws (IMNHO, every one of them except COTUS 2A) and the widespread exercise of the right thus freed from lawless "laws".

Veteran cops have learned and explain to rookies that when called to a “fight in progress” that it is much better to wait until the fight is over and arrest the winner rather than jumping into the fight and getting beat by all the participants.
