This is the Game of Thrones S05E07 discussion thread. If you haven't seen this episode yet there may be spoilers here.
OK, Aemon got somewhere, and Sam got somewhere. But that doesn't seem like part of the central theme.
This fifth season has largely felt like endless positioning and getting characters ready for the next big thing which never comes.
And, oh, I somehow find the Sand Snakes absolutely annoying.

AH, so that's what the kids are calling it these days.
Kevin Hart plays Drinklages shadow in most episodes
I would say that, in the books, the only person to really arrive anywhere was Dany, and the place she arrived was simply different than the place she’s been at for far too long.
And her arrival there is most dramatic, and will no doubt be the season closer.
The only other character that experiences anything noteworthy is Jon Snow.
Otherwise book 5 is a very complex spinning of many new plots, most of which seem entirely absent from this season, because there are just way too many plots and characters for a tv show to manage effectively.
And the goings on with Cersei are leftovers from book 4.
dwarf beat down of the guy with the chains was good.
i quit the books because i got tired of waiting on the dragons to do something . ettting the same feeling from the series.
and yes, the sand snakes are a big bust, err.. i mean disappointment.
Oh that was awesome, and that goes to show you that Tyrion is one of the best characters in GoT.
It’s not that we are waiting for the dragons to do something per se.
The dragons are in the same boat as we are waiting for their mother to do something.
She currently thinks that she is something she is not, and she currently thinks that she is not something that she is.
So until her perspective is corrected, all is in limbo, including and especially the dragons.
Well, where is Quaithe? She needs to show up and give Dany some more tips.
I AGREE. This season has been pretty boring. Hardly must see. I stream episodes when it is convenient for me. My fear is the author is running out of ideas and a plan to end the story. By far the worst season.
Someone is going to show up and give Dany tips, but it’s not going to be Quaithe.
That is, assuming they stick to book 5 as a guideline, which is anyone’s guess, because they are pretty far off the rails right now.
Well the TV writers are trying to catch up to GRRM, so I have no immediate fear that they will run out of ideas this season.
I will say that Martin has been working on the next book for a long time, it is apparently huge, there is no announced date of publication, and the next TV season will probably require that the book be out.
I think there is a chance that Martin actually has writer’s block and simply cannot complete the next book. That has happened before, to other writers.
They are deliberately dragging it out. George RR Martin
still has two books left in the series.
Uh the author already wrote the books that are this season and they are great. Departures from the book are noticeably more lame. Sad to see major things not happening.
Of course they had to have Loras get arrested by the religious fanatics for buggery. So much is missing. The way Cersei gets caught was way better in the books.
The sand snakes look like they got 3 exotic dancers and told them to pretend they can fight.
However a good season. What they’ve done is replace minor book characters with major characters. In the books Sansa doesn’t get raped it’s a minor character.
He’s released or read several sample chapters at conventions. The problem seems to be that he’ll write a chapter, but then he’ll keep re-writing it.
The Sand Snakes fight should have had some original Star Trek fight music. LOL!
;-)
