PIDGE'S RULES
Spillers of Soup ^ | Thursday, May 14, 2015 | SPIELEN NICHT … NUR TÖTEN

I'm not sure where I got this, probably one of the firearms forums.

PIDGE’S RULES

Lt. T.C.“Pidge” Robinson, Texas Ranger

15) Forget about knives, bats and fists. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. Bring four times the ammunition you think you could ever need.

14) Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammunition is cheap - life is expensive. If you shoot inside, buckshot is your friend. A new wall is cheap - funerals are expensive.

13) If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly.

Most of these look like they came from Clint Smith, of Thunder Ranch fame.

Could be. The earliest version I could find was from Field & Stream, February 4, 2009: "Petzal: The Rules of Gunfighting"

Actually it was posted here at Free Rebublic back in 2008--http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2127083/posts--so it's older than that.

I have heard those rules since at least the mid 70’s. Words vary some but the basic premise is the same. My first encounter with the rules was from a Master Sgt. that was the pistol instructor at the John F. Kennedy School for Wayward Boys.

An Officer I worked with in the 70's never carried less than 7 guns on him. Where he carried them all I'm not sure.
I usually only carried 3 on me most of the time, unless I sold one than I was down to two ;(

I would carry 4 speed loaders for my duty gun and just what was in the others. When I switched to my Md92 I carried 4 mags. Plus in my briefcase I carried another 5 mags and extra speed loaders for the other guns.

My reasoning was that "if the shite hit the fan, it wasn't going to blow in my direction" ;>)

Me too. I usually check him every week to see if he will come back. Very fine writing does Ol’ Remus.
