Seventy-five years ago today, the House of Commons in London timidly welcomed the newly appointed Prime Minister of the British Empire, Winston Spencer Churchill. The outgoing Prime Minister,Neville Chamberlain, received ovations as they walked together down the long aisle, while the new leader endured a somewhat cool reception.
The two men were adversaries. Chamberlain had declared upon returning from signing the Munich Accords in September, 1938, “Peace with honor. I believe it is peace for our time.” Churchill’s response had been, “You were given the choice between peace and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war.” The Accords gave Germany the Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia, in the hopes of appeasing Hitler’s thirst for the conquest of Europe. Czechoslovakia had not even been invited to the meeting.When Germany subsequently occupied all of Czechoslovakia, followed in little time by the invasion of Poland, Chamberlain’s fate was sealed.The wild reception upon Chamberlain’s return from Germany seemed to still linger in the halls of the House if Commons on this 13th day of May in the year of our Lord, 1940. The tree of appeasement had proven to be fruitless, but the peace believers couldn't seem to accept their defeat and reality.
The words that were spoken that day by Winston Churchill will forever be engraved in the annals of history far above Chamberlain’s boast of “Peace in our time.” His dour figure seemed to stiffen with a military bearing as he rose to accept the responsibility and heavy burden placed upon him. His country was at war. He had the audacity to believe that his leadership would produce victory. He had the hope that his people would unite to forge that victory.
Churchill knew he was challenged with a possibly insurmountable task of welding the numerous factions of Great Britain together into a cohesive force willing to fight. This speech in which he humbly offered his servicesto the free world became the clarion call to a people standing alone in the face of the greatest threat to Western Civilization the world had yet seen. Only France and the English Channel stood between Hitler’s overwhelming forces and England’s shores. France was to fall to the Blitzkrieg within a month and Hitler believed England would not fight.
“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat,” Mr. Churchill said.
Is it not the same rallying call today by those who stand stoically resisting in the face of overwhelming treason committed by our present administration and its followers who are knowingly and unknowingly tearing down the foundations and the fabric of the greatest country the world has ever seen?
The Constitution of the United States is under attack by enemies both foreign and domestic. Our SOVEREIGNTY is being brought to question and undermined by the United Nations and all adherents of The New World Order. Too many believe that we are not entitled to be different, to be sovereign, to set our own standards of liberty, to be The Land of the Free! Those who destroy the principals upon which America was built must be denounced and thoroughly refuted by the Conservative Patriots of our country. Their loss of power and ultimate defeat must be assured by our “Blood, toil, tears, and sweat.”
Winston Churchill, after leading the free world in its greatest battle and winning, was retired by the very people he had saved. Ignominiously voted out of office—after the war was won—by those who had fallen victim to the false utopia, servitude, and slavery of Socialism that had swept Europe, he was called back again to serve those who had slapped him in the face when they realized their mistake in the following election. We have made that grievous error of allowing socialism to bankrupt our country and it is past time we took up the torch of liberty against those who would insure our enslavement. We must call to the helm of our Ship of State a person who holds America’s uniqueness as her greatest strength. We must not become “one of the crowd,” but take our place again as the leader of the crowd of freedom loving nations.
One of the initial acts upon entering the White House by the newly elected Barack Obama was to send the Bust of Winston Churchill—which occupied a place of honor in the Oval Office—back to England. What an affront to our cousins with whom we had stood through two world wars and numerous other engagements, and what an affront to the American people because Winston Spencer Churchill’s mother was an American!
Let us read Winston Churchill’s words delivered exactly seventy-five years ago, and realize how apropos they are to America’s fight for freedom today:
“I would say to the House, as I said to those who have joined the government: I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.
We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: victory; victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire has stood for, no survival for the urge and impulse of the ages, that mankind will move forward towards its goal. But I take up my task with buoyancy and hope. I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, "Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength."
Let All Freedom Loving Americans make Churchill’s words our Clarion Call today. We must take up our task with buoyancy and hope, and particularly embrace: “Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory no matter how long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.”

I have been searching for the exact quote you question - can’t find a citation to settle it. Could you provide a link to it?
You are correct. Sorry I didn’t pick up my error when editing. Thank you for seeing it and bringing it to my attention.
I can’t find the exact quote, and I happen to be reading the third volume of a three volume biography of Churchill! The problem is that the quote is given several different ways, and Churchill may even have actually given it several ways. He would sometimes re-use his quotes, or reword them in his later literary accounts. Sometimes the quote is ‘you were given a choice’, or ‘he was given a choice’, or ‘they were given a choice’, etc.
Now this.......how I miss these good men.
