Yep. And His directive is also to never eat bacon or shave your beard. Do you follow all the Old Testament commands that literally?
For goodness sake- You’re bringing in cultural customs and laws and comparing that to verses which declare God hates certain people? What does cultural customs have to do with God hating certain people? Are you suggesting that because some Christians today don’t have a problem with certain things that God has had a change of heart about things He calls an abomination, or sin, or about things He hates?
I’m not following your reasoning here- Not sure why you’re bringnign cultural laws into picture
And just for the record, the reason why He forbade pork back them was because trichinosis was extremely high- due to feeding pigs everything, including flesh- Trichinosis is no longer a major concern because of safe farming practices have practically eliminated it- God didn’t want His people getting ill- so He forbade them to eat it- many of the old testament laws were specific to that region, based on cultural laws, or were because of health concerns which don’t exist today- Just so you know-
and btw- you missed the point I was trying unsuccessfully to make about the witches- It wasn’t to bring in an old testament law- it was to show that God didn’t give them an out- His directive was to kill them- Certainly a ‘God of Love’ would step in and delay the execution to give the person time to repent, no?- The point I was making was that God hates the witch, condemns the witch to die, and the act is carried out- God specifically states in his word that He hates witches, and declares what the punishment is- immediate death when it is found out a person is a witch
please don’t bring in the salem witch trials as your next argument, I am NOT suggesting we hunt down witches- I simply used a specific class of people God hates as an illustration point to show that He does infact hate some people and not just their sin only
