A hue of blue inspired by the waters of Hawaii is a prominent feature of the Obama state china service being unveiled by the White House.

President Barack Obama is a Hawaii native who returns every Christmas for vacation.

Michelle Obama's office says the first lady chose what's being called "Kailua Blue" to distinguish her family's china from the red, green, blue and yellow used on more recent state services.

When Mrs. Reagan ordered new china it was the first set since the Eisenhower administration and one of the reasons for it was that state dinners had grown so large the White House didn't have matching place settings for everyone. But since then Clinton, George Bush, and now Obama have all ordered china sets.

This is just an aside but a little relevant, but while out of town for a few days I had to stop in at a gas station. Saw the latest issue of Glamour (or it may have been Cosmopolitan). Is this the first time this magazine has had a Wookie grace it’s cover?

Was repulsed by this (even though for years I always treated the First Lady for the most part as off limits, but I guess she is the exception, forgive me).
