Need Help Understanding Inability To Use Private Reply (Moderators, Make Note)

This question is mostly directed toward the moderators.

When I attempt to send a private reply, I get the message "Your account is too new to use this feature." The problem with this is that my account was created on November 8, 2004. I figure a little more than a decade qualifies as being a veteran, not a newbie.

I respectfully request an explanation as to why I cannot do this.

May I piggy back on a this thread to make an inquiry about the performance of the FR feature for “MAIL”, on my new desktop.

Private mail confines me to 100 charactors, as if it were Twitter designed.

I was wondering, since I have been offline for a few months, if this is a change in FR format for Mail, or do you think I somehow erred in setting up and connecting this new desktop?

Seriously! Huh! I don’t think I ever remember doing that before, but I can not thank you enough!

I mean, I logged in on Day 1 to FR of course, but that was always enough to use all the features. Occasionally, after that initial log in, then FR would require a log in, which would last for another several months.
