Dear SHAW Red Team of 2014-2015:
Instead of boring you and your friends and family with a summary of the games of this past weekend, this week I am looking forward to your date with history. I hope I speak on behalf of 15 families when I say, whatever happens this weekend, YOU ARE CHAMPIONS, and we are VERY PROUD of you and your accomplishments this season.
Who could have known, back in early October of 2014 when this team was assembled, that you would be knocking on the door to greatness in March? I would like to say all of us knew it then, but the truth is, we could only hope at the time. However, from your first practice together as the Red team, you began a process that took you from being 15 individual players, and molded you into ONE TEAM. Watching the Second Years take the First Years and Ice Chip under their wing, and teaching them the ropes of full-ice hockey, was something to make us proud.
As November arrived bringing the start of the season, we could see that you were starting to work as a team on the concepts your Coaches were teaching you
and soon enough you started to prove it. Three straight ties to start the season, including one within the division against Elmbrook, made your friends and families think that you had a good chance to break-even for the year. Then came big divisional games against Arrowhead and Kenosha, and you won both games in thrilling fashion...but more importantly, you discovered that everyone in the team has talents that complement one another.

My son's hockey team is playing this weekend for the Wisconsin State Championship in his division.
This is the article I wrote in the team website.
Good luck to them!
Peewees? Good luck this weekend.
Remember to tell them, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
They’re Squirts. 5 of them move up to Peewee next season
That’s great! Hope they do well. My Bantam team was eliminated in the Semis. Lost the last game in a shootout.
They won their last fun tournament in Wausau, 2 weeks ago, against the team they’re playing tomorrow in Round 1 of the State tournament.
Equally-matched teams.
They went to 5 minute OT.
Then they went to 5-player shootout.
THEN, they went to an all-players, sudden-death shootout.
Best game of the year.
And they have to face that team again tomorrow.
I will make sure to post updates here.
Please do.
Lost their first game, 4-0.
Best they can do now is 5th
Sorry to hear that.
They won their second game, 2-1 In double overtime, in the consolation bracket. Their third and final game of the year, the consolation round championship game.
So they played for 5th place, against a team they had beat handily twice before.
Sadly, that team is from the same program as the one that beat us Saturday morning, so they got plenty of intel on us. They used that to neutralize our best players, and snuck ONE goal in, to beat us 1-0.
I hope they do well!
They probably put a body on your best players. Take away he time and space when they don’t have the puck. At bantam it’s easier because we can check.
Oh well, get them next season.
Thanks for all the good wishes!
