Hillary’s Brilliant Press Conference Performance

You have to give the Clinton’s credit for knowing how to put on a good show. Hillary’s press conference yesterday was great entertainment. Sure, she’s completely full of it but the optics and the performance were magnificent. Hillary explained her personal email story at the UN of all places. It was picked for two reasons. First, the UN gives Hillary the appearance of being above the fray, focused on world politics rather than the pettiness of emails. Second, in order to get a press pass the media has to request one at least 24 hours in advance. Hillary announced her UN press conference with 18 hours of notice, thus the pool of reporters was limited to those who would ask supportive questions. Her staff was able to hand pick questions, including one from al Jazerra.

Hillary acknowledged having a private email address which she used for official State Department business. She insists that she didn’t receive or send classified information over her email account. Unfortunately because she deleted over 30,000 “private” emails and likely destroyed the hard drive, we’ll never actually know. Hillary prattled on about how she was behaving in an unprecedented manner, releasing 30,000+ official business emails. She brilliantly made herself into the magnanimous victim, which of course is an attempt to obscure the fact that all of the emails she disclosed should have been available to the government in the first place. That’s really the big point here. Had Hillary been using a proper government email address all of the emails she disclosed would have been available to investigators or to those making FOIA requests in the first place. In fact, so to would have those emails that Hillary deleted claiming they’re “personal.”

Bill’s spokesman has previously claimed that the former President has only sent two emails in his life, both publicity stunts when he was President. Hillary claimed yesterday she had email communications with Bill. Someone is lying and frankly it’s impossible to tell who. We wouldn’t be able to obtain these emails via legal means but it sure would be interesting to see if Hillary warned Bill not to go to the kiddie sex slave island or chastised him for doing so. If only she had sent Bill there on official business, then we could have had a look at such an email. Of course, because Hillary wouldn’t have sent them via a government computer she likely would have deleted the email as “personal.” There’s no telling what could be considered personal of course. Presumably anything that might show the Secretary of State in a negative light was considered personal, deleted and will never be seen by Congress or the general public.

Poor Hillary needed her private email account for official business because she didn’t want to carry around two phones because of course phones can’t handle more than one email address. Her argument is ridiculous, especially in light of the fact that she created her personal domain in 2009. In addition during her first year as Secretary of State she continued to use her US Senate account. Somehow in 2009 she managed two email addresses, for some reason one of them couldn’t be an official state department email address. We all know why this is. Hillary wanted to be able to be able to do damage control separately from the White House, who she reasonably assumed would throw her under the bus if they had exclusive control over her communications. By only using a personal email account, with a server located in her New York house no less, Hillary could exclusively control who had access to her communications. Not only could she keep the White House at bay, she could keep Congressional Republicans in the dark as well.

All of this led up to Hillary’s masterful performance yesterday. The brilliant location, the perfect set up with limited press and hand selected questions and poor grandma Hillary playing the victim. It was everything we would expect from a Clinton performance and then some. The problem of course is that Hillary isn’t a victim, she’s the perpetrator of fraud. She’s potentially engaging in illegal activity by doing official business over a private email account. We’re right back in the 90’s again, with Hillary engaging in shady activities and playing the victim. There’s no doubt she’s brilliant at it. The problem is that when we look at Hillary’s life, dating to her involvement with the Nixon impeachment committee in the 70’s (which she was fired from for unethical conduct) through her time as First Lady to today we see nothing but shady deals, unethical conduct and victim blaming. She sets herself up as poor Hillary the victim while she goes on the attack against anyone who questions her or stands in her way. Bimbo eruptions, vast right-wing conspiracies and the like all while poor Hillary is providing unprecedented access to her emails. Her performance was brilliant but at this point most of America isn’t fooled by her performances.

My daughter called the other day and wanted to know if it was all right to feel glee at Hillary's distress and I told her, first of all, she feels no distress, and yeah, go ahead and enjoy it.

I saw only righteous indignation. She even sounded irritated at one of the pre-planned questions.

If the Clinton's are going to win over the Obama's, they had better get their email stories straight.

" You have to give the Clinton’s "

Bzzzt.

RAD - Random apostrophe disease. The apostrophe is possessive when it precedes "s". For the plural, use only "s" with no apostrophe.

For example: "The drunken, stupid frat rat's embarrassed the entire state" would be incorrect.

"The drunken stupid frat rats embarrassed the entire state" would be correct.

Just sayin'. :)

Brilliant, huh? Srsly?! I think it was a trainwreck that Cheryl Mills had to abruptly end as her boss continued to embarrass herself.

Hillary’s presser yesterday was absolutely brilliant. That isn’t necessarily a positive thing though. It was everything you would expect from a Clinton, a complete show. It was magnificent in its production value. It didn’t accomplish anything for Hillary, if anything it created more questions for her to answer. However in terms of its political theater value, the production was magnificent, brilliant and 100% Clintonian. I enjoyed every second of its absurdity.

In the wake of Hillary Rodham Clinton's fairly disastrous press conference at the United Nations on Tuesday, there's only one conclusion shared by all parties: This was not how it was supposed to go.

The "carefully scripted" plan may have been brilliant in its deception, but its execution went so far off the rails that ridicule overwhelms any possible remaining luster.

Exhibit A: when your handler has to shut your 'brilliant' news conference down by coming up to your podium, taking away your answer binder, and leading you offstage like a toddler, any 'brilliance' is gone.

I agree no one bought her story. That doesn’t mean the show wasn’t brilliantly entertaining.

I didn't watch it live but saw excerpts of it later.

Hillary looked old.
