Well that’s the proble,. I can go component from cable to DVD, but then I would have to use another type from the DVD to the RF modulator- perhaps S-Video, but once it gets to the modulator, then I’m forced back down to coaxial which goes out to the TV- so I would think that steady downgrading from component, to S-Video, to coaxial would I think defeat the whole premise of higher quality picture?

I would not worry so much about the quality. On an SD TV, you probably would not notice much difference between an AV and composite or HDMI. I don’t notice much difference on my LCD 720p TV from HDMI to composite or AV.
