I happened to have done a security check last week after being prompted by Google at one of their sites. There was no mention of receiving 2G free storage for doing a security check either then or now.
After reading this article I did another security check for the purposes of validating the 2G free storage Business Insider claims. Again, there was no mention of it.
All I found in the way of validation of the free storage is this two paragraph statement listed at the end of the article. It's not much in the way of anything absolute but it can't hurt doing the security check and you might get the 2G as stated by Business Insider. But I am not counting on it. I tried to do the security check a second time but it wouldn't link me through. You've got nothing to lose and perhaps may gain the 2G storage. I don't know. Good luck. ============================================================================================================
You're all done! Just sit back and relax with the knowledge that your Google account is more secure and that you have 2GB of free storage on the way.
Google says it will add the free storage to everyone's account around Feb. 28, and you'll get an email confirmation when the change is completed.
Google SWEARS they won’t paw through your files looking for clues as to what popup ads to show you as you surf.
Honest. Scout’s honor! ;-)
I did a Google Search about the free storage and there are numerous articles, posts that mention it so i I would assume there’s some truth to it.
I uninstalled some apps that came with our Android phones tablet this past weekend and some apps that didn’t do what they were supposed to do.
I performed the security rechecks.
Nothing came up re the free storage.
Google drive is great for my wife and I to share photos and send to relatives and friends.
Photo downloading from others and sharing with our Kit Kat OS has been a hassle until we started using Google Drive.
Google security check? LOL Google rapes tons of computers around the world for personal information. No thanks! ;-)
One of the installation steps requires you to send a Valentine to your appointed NSA agent.
Perhaps i'm paranoid, but I regard google as just about the most evil corporation that ever existed. People would be well advised to avoid anything google connected, especially regarding their personal data.
The Stasi could only DREAM about what google has been doing.
Total BS. I have a free account and just checked it:
I have 15 GB of storage.
I bet many already have >2GB storage without this. Not that some may need the ‘security check’, which I completed anyway:
Pretty basic & mundane, but they still don’t get my mobile #...
Did my Drive storage increase to 17GB?
No.
At least I didn’t waste any more time reading the original article or give them any clicks...
Since Google has become to have it’s proboscis firmley ensconeced in the Queer-In-Charge’s alimentary canal, no thanks.

I will do everything to prevent Google and its minions from “touching” my machine and data!!!1
And the 2GB showed up today for me.
