NRA Ignoring Immigration Threat To Gun Rights
Bluegrass Bruce ^ | January 28, 2015 | Bruce P

Mitch McConnell’s surrender on immigration reform last week could have major consequences for Second Amendment rights.

Deportation amnesty is one of the biggest threats to gun rights because it will add millions of anti-gun voters to the electorate in one fell swoop.

The vast majority of illegal aliens are Hispanics, and Hispanics are one of the most anti-gun demographics in the United States. According to the Pew Research Center, 62% of Hispanics prefer expanding gun control to percent gun rights, compared to 39% of white voters.

Gun Owners of America estimates that amnesty could add more than 8 million anti-gun voters to the electorate. The consequences of this would be nothing short of devastating. GOA explained:

“This is exactly what happened to California — which was once a Red State,” GOA explained in a 2014 alert. “Because of the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty bill of 1986, the state lurched violently to the left and now can’t pass gun control restrictions fast enough.”

Yet GOA seems to be the only gun group drawing attention to the issue. As David Codrea noted in a series of columns last year, the NRA avoids addressing the immigration issue like the plague.

Now, with Obama’s amnesty order on the verge of becoming law, the NRA is doing a major disservice to its members by failing to acknowledge amnesty for what it is -— a grave threat to gun rights.

ILLEGAL ALIENS can`t VOTE.

Legal Hispanics love democrats ever since RFK,but they love their guns and religion much much more.

They cling to their guns and religion much much more.

Verrry interesting! Thanks for the background. Papa Joe’s hatred of WASPy Boston Brahmins knew no bounds.

But not all immigrant Catholics were kneejerk Democrats. My coal miner grandfather & soldier father thought Dems were a bunch of crooks out to “tax & tax, spend & spend, elect & elect” their way to power.

Grandpa hated the UMW & John L. Lewis for his limousine & fancy mansion. Got his boiler operator license & left mining forever.

Democrats and communists are using illegal immigration to destroy the country.

First they created “sanctuary cities” to increase their census numbers and therefore their congressional representation and Federal funding.

Now they are giving illegal aliens valid ID so that that they can vote illegally. There is also a movement to allow them to vote “legally” in local elections.

Next, if they can’t get their “path to citizenship” they will allow illegals to vote in national elections.

It’s called “circling the drain.”

Illegal aliens should NOT be counted in the census, and they certainly should not be considered for purposes of representation in Congress or for Federal funding.

Well now, that convinces me. Importing millions more illiterate peasants and street people from the countryside and slums of Mexico will really transform America into a conservative paradise. Just imagine how wonderful it would be if the whole country had the blessings of barrio culture.

In my experience, the people armed to the teeth in the barrio are these types rather than swarthier versions of Charlton Heston:

They cling to their guns and religion much much more.

And they cling even more strongly to their food stamps. Minimum wage jobs mowing lawns, pushing brooms, and washing dishes can't pay for a brood of a dozen offspring.

Of course not all, but that has nothing to do with anything.

The majority of Catholics vote democrat, and it is why immigration is such a tool for the left, and why they had to change the laws.

The 1965 Immigration Act ended America, we will never recover from JFK having won in 1960 instead of Eisenhower’s vice president.

Our current Pope isn’t helping things at all with his class warfare, I’ll certainly allow that.

Not trying to start something, but aren’t the mainstream Protestant denominations well down the road to progressivism? I’m fully aware of the political conservatism of Evangelicals, but they mostly are at the level of the individual congregation.

No argument about the destructiveness of the 1965 Act. Makes RFK, EMK, & LBJ to be even more cynical & evil, IMO.

The overall Protestant vote including mainstream and black churches, and everything, is still a republican vote, and we aren’t importing Protestants and their future offspring by the millions.

Protestant immigration did not cost us California, and the left is not counting on it to take Texas, which ends the Republican party having a role in presidential elections.

I would agree, but I’ve heard estimates of 100 – 120 Million gun owners – and anybody with a brain who doesn’t have some should be getting on the stick.

Problem is as typical of a national movement of Socialists, they will work incrementally.

They’ll push for registration first and once they have the sheeple used to the government controlling their property they start paring down the numbers.

They are well aware of history and that the revolution started partially on gun confiscation – they will try and avoid doing it in one fell swoop.

What are you talking about?

It won’t be the illegals who decide these things, they will just be the ones who help the Commie Dems cheat and tilt the electorate towards them with promises of free goodies.

Yes I use 90 million as a conservative figure. I say the operative phrase here is “they will try”. Conn cannot even get their nanny state gun owners to register their guns. In the South we would all just laugh and say “Bless their hearts” as we locked and loaded.

Democrats and communists are using illegal immigration to destroy the country.

No offense, but that’s being redundant. :-)

You’re correct in the “Progression” you laid out – that is exactly how the DemoCommies will do it.

They can’t convince a majority of the populace to head down a dead end behind them so they just import a bunch of illegal voters to do it for them.

Understood.

I sort of find it amusing when the Nation’s Socialist-left talks of the military rolling over gun owners – at best we’re talking 4 – 5 Million military and law enforcement.

So let’s say only ¼ of the 90 Million decide to fight, so that would be 22 Million Vs 5 Million – assuming 100 % of the military would side with the socialists – highly doubtful..

Yes and don’t think they don’t know it.

Barry wanted to send National Guard to the Bundy ranch and whatever general was involved in that conversation said no way Jose.

Like I say, I have lived in the barrio for 20 years- Everyone here has at least one pistola in their house. You live in a barrio?

When I was there living next to illegals, even the Calif Highway Patrol used to hold "Get to know you Days" in the barrio. They didn`t bother no one there cuz they knew the latinos were all armed and outgunned them dearly.

"Why would anybody come here if they had a gun/pony? Who leaves a country packed with guns & ponies to come to a non-gun/non-pony country? It doesn't make sense! Am I wrong ..."

I lived in Brownsville for several years and one of my closest friends is a cop in McAllen, TX. That taught me all I need to know about the barrios and their culture of poverty and ignorance. The norm is trash in people's yards, people shopping with food stamps, dilapidated ratshack houses, gangbanger sons (yes they're armed, just like inner city hoods are armed, not sure why this in itself is so praiseworthy considering what they do with those arms) and perpetually pregnant teenage daughters.

If you think that turning the United States into a dirty Third World slum is a net plus, there's nothing I or anyone else can say that will dissuade you.

California barrios are really nice, unlike Brownsville coz Calif is much stricter on code regulations than Texas evidently- The Calif gov/city govt`s don`t like guns there but they love their barrios to be clean or you get fined, but not deported.

,p.

Script change!! "I had a gun and a pony! When I was little girl in Poland, we all had guns and ponies!" [1939 {Poland?] script change:

)Manya: "When I was a little girl in Poland, we all had guns and ponies. My sister had a gun and a pony, my cousin had gun & a pony, ..So, what's wrong with that?"

JERRY: No, see, we didn't have guns nor ponies. I'm sure at the time in Poland, they were very common. They were probably like compact cars.."

Unless legal migrants fully adopt traditional American culture, then they wont be of any help to us. History shows that multicultural societies will always breed conflict.

Well they can only get so far incrementally til they hit the wall. IMO registration is a no go. We would never register guns for any reason.
