An MIT professor of meteorology is dismissing global-warming alarmists as a discredited “cult” whose members are becoming more hysterical as emerging evidence continues to contradict their beliefs.
During an appearance on this writer’s radio show Monday, MIT Professor emeritus Richard Lindzen discussed the religious nature of the movement.
“As with any cult, once the mythology of the cult begins falling apart, instead of saying, oh, we were wrong, they get more and more fanatical. I think that’s what’s happening here. Think about it,” he said. “You’ve led an unpleasant life, you haven’t led a very virtuous life, but now you’re told, you get absolution if you watch your carbon footprint. It’s salvation!”
Lindzen, 74, has issued calm dismissals of warmist apocalypse, reducing his critics to sputtering rage.
Last week, government agencies including NASA announced that 2014 was the “hottest year” in “recorded history,” as The New York Times put it in an early edition. Last year has since been demoted by the Times to the hottest “since record-keeping began in 1880.”(continued)

Prof. Lidnzden was onto the AGW hucksters decades ago. I particularly liked one of his lines - “There are peoplle making statements of such overt unreality that I fear for the credibility of my science.”
“Overt unreality” became the alpha and omega of the AGW culties.
Then, they were elected.

Love it! At 74, I doubt very much they can touch him. Probably got tenure long ago and may even be an emeritus professor by now. Anyway, it speaks volumes that it takes someone who is untouchable like him to dare to speak out against the Jim Jonesian-like global warming cult. Will it wake any of the cultists up to the point that they will stand up and be counted? No. Even if they know he’s right, they’ve been thoroughly cowed into compliance.

MAN MADE global warming pushers have never explained where did the humongous global warming came from which ended the last ice age some 15000 years ago!
Earth has cycles of ice age followed by global warming going on for hundreds of millions of years. None of it was man made. Man could barely ignite some twigs using flint stones 15000 years ago.
I posted some comments on one of the Discus Boards about the Hottest Year BS linked to Drudge. I spent my time ridiculing some of the more idiotic believers and man, they came back at me with a vengeance.
The funniest one was a response to my Post telling one of them to pet their Unicorn for me. I was accused of being “Uncivil”. LOL
I pointed out that taking Carbon Taxes from hard working Americans to fuel this phony Globull Warming stuff was really Uncivil.

Perhaps. Then again- some folks have posited, that current megaliths from all around the world date to at least 25 thousand years. I know for a fact- that burning twigs is still difficult today- even with a bic, by some of our fellow wonderful homo sapien family. A flint and stone? Nah. The retracted intelligence is minimal. Global warming, will be the dream of functionally incapable fire lighters.
Absolutely correct. AGW really does fit the definition of a cult. It is a complete waste of time to engage these people in argumentation -- they come from a moral viewpoint (their hearts are pure, yours is rotten) and logic is irrelevant.
