Stalin feared the deer hunter behind every tree. In particular, veterans...Just as the left does.

I think this Kentucky cop should have left his gun at home in a locked box.

If I’d had a trigger lock, I’d be dead.
Something the liberals can never get a grip on.

And what happens when the DoJ subpoenas Amazon for the data on everyone who’s ever bought a trigger lock through them?

Then we’re all already screwed. I’ve been buying non shooting, but related toys on line for more than a decade. And so has most shooting friends

You don’t lock em all. I keep most in a safe. But not all.

Some folks with young kids might want to keep them away from their children and keep primary defensive weapons with a quick access system. Kids can learn early but there is a period between trainable and not trainable that you have to be careful.

That’s the problem with kids - how to protect the family but yet keep the guns where kids can’t get to them; then how fast can you get to them in an emergency?

Think it out my dear Dancer!

.
If the kids can’t get to the guns in an emergency, neither can you?

How about training the kids extensively in the proper use of guns?

If they have adequate time at the range, and in the woods, they are much less likely to grab a gun out of curiosity.

Put that “untrainable” young’un on your lap, and let them experience the un-muffled report of a small caliber hand gun up close, and they will likely remember it for a long time.

Yeah scare the living crap out of them so they’ll never want to go near ever again them.
You’ve never had kids, have you?

My kids handled guns at an age that may not be legal in this state. They fired large and small bore firearms at such a young age that I can’t say as the state wouldn’t appreciate it.

The best thing to own is a quick finger combination safe by your night stand and then you can also carry at home while awake if you feel more comfortable that way.

Raised six of them.

Scared none.

“And what happens when the DoJ subpoenas Amazon for the data on everyone who’s ever bought a trigger lock through them?”

Why would the Obama regime need a subpoena anyway?

That has not stopped him before from using all of the alphabet Fed agencies to spy on U.S. citizens.

"How about training the kids extensively in the proper use of guns?"

Stop that immediately. You are making too much sense.

Well in a way I was being a bit sarcastic. These gun control robots think that keeping guns safe from kids will also prevent you from getting at them in an emergency. Like Bloomie said “Better to have a cell phone instead of a gun”

There is a certain age. It is different in each kid.

Dad was a beat cop. He put me in charge of keeping his gun clean from an early age. When I was old enough to be left home alone, I would break the code we had together and take out his 1946 s&w military and police, unload it and play hopalong Cassidy around the house (I knew how to load and unload it because I was taught so I was safe but dad would have killed me) . By the time i reached age 12 he bought me a .22 rifle and I stopped screwing with his. By the time I was 16 and driving I would do unbelievable things to his cars when away from the house. He wondered why his transmissions kept needing to be repaired.
At at that age I knew what I tried doing to HS girls IN his cars (I’m sure the fathers of those girls might have shot me if they knew). So using myself for a template I allowed a certain amount of freedom around firearms (and my cars) with my kids (who are now grown). But not Carte Blanche...not till I knew they were capable of using good sense(more sense than I used at a particular age). Presently I keep most weapons in a 1000lb safe. To protect from theft. But not all are there.

I’ll admit that I misread your comment.

It really wasn’t the sort to normally escape your keyboard.

You an I are apparently twins separated at birth.

All I meant in the first post was that breaking the rubber band of curiosity at an early age is very helpful. The sooner they grasp the power of the gun, the better.

BROTHER?

No,,,,I hear you and agree

All my kids had first hand experience at a young age. I have old pictures of them hoisting weapons bigger than them that are hidden away. In my state it might now be considered child abuse.
