On the rare occasion I find myself in agreement with President Obama, I get nervous.
It just feels like a setup. Like someone's going to pull the rug out from under me at any moment.
But right now, I have to admit, I was very pleased to hear the news that the U.S. and Cuba are moving to normalize relations.

What a fiasco that was.
“Hey FR is filled with liberals lately.”
Surprised this hasn’t been pointed out more. For this topic, there are some regulars that are just wrong on this, but an amazing amount of names come up that are new or not often heard from, and focused particularly on this topic (rather than just being a poster that posts on a variety of topics, but just not very often).

Agreed.
Like its not depressing here.
Not quite the same but I know what you mean. The prospect of a president Hillary Clinton is even more so.
“”You are mistaken. People flock to this country. They want a chance at liberty and freedom.””
I said naïve and your reply confirms it...Do you really think relations are going to improve for the Cuban people? Because the jerk in the WH said so?
Do leopards change their spots? You have the answer!
Honestly the last time I was in Jamaica was one of the most depressing times of my life. I felt so guilty looking at the abject poverty all around me. I wanted to start handing out money.
Give the Cuba thing a chance. I hate that Obama gets the credit but Trump will start building hotels down there and people will have better jobs. Over time we can bring the place around so that they enjoy the same Democratic Socialist police state we do. :-)
Jamaicans are poor. Cubans are abused by an oppressive communist dictator who runs the government. And as long as a dictator is in charge that is not going to change.
Cuba is heaven for vintage-car enthusiasts.
In long after the zot!
Well its a done deal now so we will just have to see how it shakes out. Personally I think its a positive move.
Have conditions improved in China? After Nixon opened relations?
Conversion and Free markets are not a plan, they are an end goal.
What concrete steps do you propose to get to those results?
Conversion and Free markets are the plan. Everything else follows

Are you getting paid PAC money to do this?
For once Rubio is right and Menendez echos it as well. We are helping out Stalinists. The foul-mouthed writer of that article has no idea.
There’s a load of articles on what Menendez has been saying, hey, I’m generally not going to like the New Jersey Democratic Senator but check the articles out, for once, the guy is right. Sounds like the articles say he’s right sometimes on foreign policy issues.
