Saw him on Fox News. Impressive guy.
So, we see a black congressman from what is supposed to be a Democrat district in Texas.
We see a black woman Republican, Mia Love, elected to Congress on Tuesday.
And we see Senator Tim Scott, black Republican of South Carolina, elected to the Senate on Tuesday.
None of these elections have received any notice from the NAACP. No acknowledgement of these historic elections, no acknowledgement of these being major elections of black candidates to office.
What these black candidates all have in common is that they are Republicans. Is that why the NAACP refuses to say anything about their elections???
I agree that the media is ignoring the man, in article after article about black republicans, the Texan is left out.
This is a strange district. It covers an enormous stretch of West Texas but most of its population is in the exploding suburbs of San Antonio and the towns near the northern Eagle Ford shale.
75% urban voters but it covers thousands of square miles of rural West Texas. The legislature gerrymandered away thousands of West Texas voters when they created the district.
Good for the good guys!
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to DNS Digitas News Service and Paul M Winters for this posting. Now what fellow FR’s should do is copy this posting and send it out to every talk show host they know....I know I will...
Will Hurd’s ethnicity never came up during the Republican Primary in which he bested Republican Quico Canseco (who held the seat prior to Democrat Gallegos’ win). I honestly don’t know why it is such a BFD now...or maybe it is to everyone except Texans...who probably looked at his being an Aggie more than his being biracial.
Gig ‘em Aggies.
Good post!
