That late 70's president you referred to, was not trying to 'remember how awesome' he was as you said. That ex-president was trying to add on to his legacy. All wrong, always wrong, even more so wrong after his years in the office.

And yes, the Obamas (esp. Michelle) will be worse for the next 30 plus years. These guys are young (young-ish).
