Ronald Reagan: We meant to change a nation, and instead, we changed a world (video)

Some inspirational words in these troubled times.

On January 11, 1989 Ronald Reagan delivered his farewell address from the White House. In this video excerpt, he sums up some of the achievements and lessons of his presidency.

Hearing the Gipper reflect on the 1980s, we understand the magnitude of his achievements, and also what the country has since lost, especially in recent years. Today, some are giving up hope that America can be great again. But as Mr. Reagan says, “because we’re a great nation, our challenges seem complex. It will always be this way. But as long as we remember our first principles and believe in ourselves, the future will always be ours.

“And something else we learned: Once you begin a great movement, there’s no telling where it will end. We meant to change a nation, and instead, we changed a world.”

Thank God that Reagan had what his presidential replacement called “the vision thing”.

And it only took a scant 25 years for the forces of global communism and a healthy dose of electoral stupidity to undo everything. Russia is back to an imperialist bully, China is eating our lunch money, while we ourselves are well on our way to becoming a hollowed-out lawless and fascist state with a homo muslim commie at the helm.

I visited the Reagan Library last week. It just makes you feel good being there and being surrounded by like minded people. Unfortunately it also reminds how far we have fallen.

Our present Natural Born Liar is also changing the world. He doesn't need impeached. He needs court marshalled.

Why don’t they change the redskins name to the Washington Reaganites.

It’s like it was a different world. I was listening to this thinking even Republicans don’t talk like this any more. What the heck happened?

I was just looking at some commercials from Nov 1984 on YouTube...

http://youtu.be/ajbfOFbp5vg

a few minutes ago, and there were a couple of Reagan 84 ads. My goodness they were so uplifting. To see a president that doesn’t spend his time plotting against us, but actually believes in this nation. It honestly choked me up.

Ronald Reagan set the gold standard for Presidents, in the best traditions of George Washington and the Founders.

The years 1981-1989 were amazing--more so in hindsight from thirty years out.

We can do it again, but we have to demand more of our leaders and to hold them accountable.

They work for us, not the other way around.

The new beginning for America starts Tuesday, Nov. 4th, God willing.

We are still the shining city on the hill, and the Democrats be damned.

On my bucket list, for sure.

Reagan, at age 11, pegged Communism as evil, because it came between God and men.

Who could have foreseen, growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, that we would win the Cold War without a nuclear exchange.

He loved this country, and it showed.

Leaders like him are what we need today.

It will take good people to find them and to elect them.

God is not finished with America yet.

We will survive the Communist gay Muslim in the White House and his Iranian born she-devil Rasputin.

America is an idea much bigger and better than those two insects.

I have had the honor and pleasure to visit the Reagan Museum three times in the last two years with guests.
I get choked up each time.
I’ve spoken to the curators there about how prescient his concerns were when he ran California and later was our President.
All we could do was wistfully nod our heads at how correct Mr. Reagan was.
I also ran into Michael Reagan there escorting his grand children’s class tour there.
I told Michael I missed his father tremendously.
He got real quiet, agreed, and curiously commented that today’s Republican party wouldn’t likely let him run for office.
Not sure if he intended concern about Tea Party or GOP/RINO opposition.
God give us humility, and see the error of our ways. Maybe then we’ll get leaders to bring honor to our sons and fathers who gave there lives for our freedom...

March, Welcome to FreeRepublic!

Thanks for sharing your impressions of the Reagan library and of meeting Michael Reagan.

My wife and I were there in DC on 9/12/09 and again in 2010.

I am ready for another one.

Hi exit82, thanks for your reply.
I was there both years too.
I’d reply privately, however my account is too new to use that feature..
We have to be ready for repercussions of wounded Obola and liberal henchmen to Rahm thru Executive orders (amnesty), and other desperate acts.
Can we start an ongoing forum thread to brainstorm message and constructive action to offer resistance to this lawless regime?
Thoughts?
