Nurses in America say they are unprepared to deal with Ebola patients arriving from abroad as a growing sense of panic sweeps the US.
The warning comes after it emerged Thomas Eric Duncan, the country's first case, had told health workers he had recently been in Liberia yet was still sent home from a hospital in Texas with nothing more than painkillers and antibiotics.
However, health officials insist that American hospitals are ready for such patients and on Friday White House advisers tried to reassure the nation that an outbreak was extremely unlikely.
Lisa Monaco, Barack Obama's senior counter-terrorism adviser, said: "The United States is prepared to deal with this crisis, both at home and in the region.
"Every Ebola outbreak in the past 40 years has been stopped. We know how to do this and we will do it again."(continued)

Yur good!!
In a way I wish I was younger to help with the problems that are becoming more and more in-someones-face
In a way I’m too tired to help.
But about all I can say is “Best wishes! I sincerely mean that!”
So I understand you. Or at least I hope I do...
cut me a little slack...I am perturbed.
Not a word I use often.
I have people on this forum, to which I have been a solid conservative member for many years who want me to disappear.
And.....for the first time, I am seriously considering it.
I can send a e-mail to jimrob, mention a time and place where we met and had a good time. I can then ask him to nuke my account.
And he will...because I asked.
I do...and I don’t want to do that.
But I have my own pride, and I have a duty to dissent as AS FREE AMERICAN. My duty to do what I can to save this mess, is overriding my pride. So I am conflicted.
I want this country to survive. but. I fear it will not. I have known this now for at least two years and it pains me.
The tree of liberty has to be watered from time to time. I know this from history’s of nation states. And from predictions made long ago by US founders.
Is it time the time?
Is that what I am feeling...?
I am trying to sort that out.
I forecast a point where, if Ebola becomes a real threat, that hospitals are forced to shut because the workers will stay home. As hospitals close the effect will become a cascading disaster as more patients clog remaining hospitals and the remaining staff is overextended.
I suspect that in previous pandemics nurses and doctors saw their job as a calling. I think that many doctors and nurses today see their job simply as that, a job...not a calling. In other words, we’ve moved from faith and love bringing one to the medical profession to it’s just a lucritive job. No job is worth dying for.
I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right. The nurses, allied health and doctors who risked their lives in the great wars, plagues, Spanish flu, polio & measles outbreaks are all gone now. Just as Bowe “Taliban” Bergdahl and Bradley “Chelsea” Manning are probably the new faces of the coming military in some respects.

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Thanks for the ping!
