Well, the HiTech RedNeck is looking for a job... AGAIN. This job hopping is getting old, but the boss of the group, at a major freight railroad, for which I'm a contractor has an integrity problem, to put it delicately. For some reason, I don't get along very well with liars and phonies.
Well, I refreshed my resumes on Dice and Monster this past weekend and crossed my fingers. Well this morning what do I behold, but someone wants to know if I am interested in working for a company that turns out to be BLOOMBERG MEDIA.
They are quoting a super deluxe benefits package and money they are saying is in the mid to high six figures.
I've come across Bloomberg from time to time but there wasn't a match. Now they want a C++ guru, and I can say my experience with C++ goes back almost to when it was invented.
Well... okay we agree on who Bloomberg is. But what about his flagship media company. I haven't seen many particularized complaints about it here, which strikes me as odd since the alphabet agencies get excoriated regularly. I don't know what they are doing with all this C++ yet, unless it is to customize news feeds. Would working for them be to be in the belly of the beast? I don't see much news originated from Bloomberg, but they gather news stories (whether true or false) quite well.
Bloomberg’s been one of the biggest portals for business news forever. Looks like Bloomberg Media does the same for news from online media and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) My guess is the former Mayor doesn’t have much to do with it beyond the name. Sounds like a great opportunity!
I would love to work for an unabashedly conservative company. Unfortunately I’ve never been in the right place at the right time to make that particular connection. Sometimes I’ve to remind myself that “It’s a paycheck” and be thankful for a job.
Like when I worked at MSNBC. You wanna talk about the belly of the beast?! There, you could tell the conservatives because they were the ones than never talked politics. There was a sports editor and the senior business editor, and a few more but not very many.
As I understand it, Bloomberg started Bloomberg Media and it became a highly respected business news outlet. He sold it, or most of it (Don’t know for sure.) before he went into politics. Admittedly, I have not followed it closely, but that’s pretty close. Good luck with the job!
P.S. If you DO get the job, and it pays “in the mid to high six figures”, I would expect FreepaThons to get much shorter!
Communist - Bloomberg media is communist.
The $64,000 question is: how do you tell
Suppose that happened and HiTech RedNeck was the chief benefactor of FR. Freepathon open and closed in same day and the reason becomes obvious.
What would that do to your potlicker (er, political) balance?
I sort of get the idea that these folks are aggregating business intelligence for those who will pay beaucoup $$ to see it first.
There might be some bounds on how that could be used in market trading, due to rules on trading based on nonpublic information, but also just plain business decisions could depend upon it too.
If so, it would be uber-capitalist. I’d be tickled to be part of a tycoon tax, so to speak, as long as that was voluntary on the part of the tycoons.
You could pull a John McCain or a John Cornyn and go in as
an undercover operative and disrupt it from within.
As a practical matter, I don't think JimRob would let you fund FR totally. He says as much on nearly every fundraising thread he writes.
That aside, I spend an awful lot of time on FR, and it gets annoying how long it takes to get to goal. While I was trying to be funny, we can always use more company in the 300 Club.
And I would expect that if that occurred the FReepathon team would be most appreciative... ;-)
It’s a big, fat import and recirculating debt interest. But take the job and make lots of money, while the getting is good.
If they are importing news, maybe it is one of the least unwise imports that the USA is undertaking. Foreign news still thinks, most of the time.
...seriously, what imports, I really would like to grok that. If he sells to foreigners isn’t that EXports?
I can just tell by the slant of economic propaganda more conducive to imports. Been reading it and analyzing it for a long time.
In the end, the way of the high dollar, global dollar reserve, cheap imports and globally centralized production and influence won’t continue. Production will be much more distributed, free (free designs), local and low cost. Prototypes for many useful (and necessary) things have already been built and are continually developed for anyone to build.
What does it say, buy Chinese and you can make out like a bandit tomorrow? It’s only telling the truth. It’s not telling you how wise or foolish that may be.
Also, maybe someone needs to suggest a biblically oriented news service to him.
I’m finishing some details on a house design now (International Residential Code). Anyone, anyplace, will be able to build it, and it will remain free to all. Kinda cuts out the rackets, doesn’t it. The same is being done with all kinds of machines and equipment (all kinds plus some). The effort is worldwide.
Open source houses, why not.
The problem is going to be societies that interfere with them or don’t want them.
