This is some sort of extreme PTSD (or some other ailment).

“The atmosphere is collapsing” could very well mean he could not breathe due to one or more ailments resulting from his service. Combined with some psychosis (or maybe just drinking/drugs), who knows?

That's my guess, as well, and he does. It's also my guess that he's been pushed over the edge by a confused depression due to the current state of things (last six years), the warmista scaremongers and the chem-trail wackos.
