Illinois’ Blagojevich in line for a Get out of Jail Soon card?

The tentacles of Obama’s web of corruption yet again expose the stinking cesspool that is Chicago. Rod Blagojevich, the fourth Illinois governor to reside in a gray bar inn, may be rearranging his schedule for an anticipated Get Out of Jail Somewhat Free Card as political maneuverings and legal efforts reveal Obama’s reach.

“It’s f’n golden,” said Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich prior to his trip to prison. He was referring to his right as Governor to appoint a US Senator to fill the vacancy that occurred when Obama went to Washington to organize that community. That seat on the Democrat side of the aisle was golden in more than a few creative ways. Blago meant business. Not only would he make Illinois’ next senator pay big time for a seat in America’s vaulted halls of Congress, he would do it in such a way as to keep himself out of prison.

The entire scheme fell down and went boom when CHICAGO TRIBUNE reporter John Chase allegedly called Blago’s press secretary Lucio Guerrero to inform him that the feds were wiretapping everything the Governor said. (1) Ernie Souchak, editor-in-chief of the Illinois Pay-to-Play website, writes that it was U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald who contacted Chase, told him of the FBI wiretaps and suggested he get the word to Blagojevich’s press secretary. Why is this so significant? Because at the time, it was Fitzgerald himself who was investigating the misdeeds of Blagojevich for the Department of Justice. With his call to Tribune reporter Chase, Fitzgerald was literally shutting down his own “secret” DOJ investigation of the Illinois governor.

You may ask why a once admired fed guy like Fitzgerald would compromise his OWN investigation? Why would he use...

If Obazar serves out the second term one can bet the pardons he will issue in the last few days will be many. Lois Lerner has nothing to worry about as long as she stays healthy.

That's funny right there; Ernie Souchak was John Belushi's character's name in the 1981 romantic comedy 'Continental Divide', where he played a burned-out reporter who struck west for a much-deserved rest and finds love with enviro-freak Blair Brown...forgettable movie all around, but the coincidence is very interesting.

I liked that movie. Belushi played it straight, probably the only movie where he did.

Yes, the admired Fitzgerald, who spent millions of dollars going after Scooter Libby when he knew the leaker was Richard Armitage to begin with...but only because he wasn’t able to use the Valerie Plame nonsense to take out Dick Cheney.

Belushi also played the straight man to Ackroyd’s neighbor-from-hell in the black comedy ‘Neighbors’ (also 1981)...another forgettable piece of cinema!
