The tendency of political leaders is to react rather than to act. The reaction is based on self preservation and then local or national preservation.
If viewed within the context of realigning national borders badly drawn a hundred years ago, there is no need for international reaction. It was international action that created the problem in the first place. The border situation is sorting its self out with the help of a very few well placed bombs and provision of new arms.
It should be obvious to all by now that clinging to the vanished concepts of Syria and Iraq is futile. Both nations are in reality, gone.
Lastly consider Egypt. There was gloom and doom on a spectacularly massive scale. It is gone. Cooler heads prevailed. Morsi et al are gone, many actually dead. The chicken little’s never insert time and rationality and most of all, money into the equation
