Been there, done that. It was crazy after “the wall” came down. The Germans were begging the former East Germans to stay off the autobahns. Their little Trabants looked like they were still a mile up the road as the West Germans would come up behind them. The West Germans were driving right through them. It was wild.

“The West Germans were driving right through them. It was wild”.
- A lot of drivers from other European countries have experienced the same thing.
We Swedes and the Swiss drive the most powerful cars in Europe (measured by hps). But we're not used to driving our cars like the Germans do.
The Autobahn is insane, but if you take it easy and refrain from challenging experienced drivers traveling at very high speeds and forcing others to move over, you'll soon find out the Autobahn could be a very good friend of yours. Efficient, convenient, reliable - Germany at its best.

I remember the public safety warnings on AFRTS in Germany to keep an eye out for the Trabbis. The Autobahn is no big deal because the German drivers are so damn good. The instruction and testing they go through to get licensed is no joke. Plus, the Polizei can conduct random safety inspections anywhere, and do. If your car is not properly maintained, you get red tagged and put out of operation.
I remember driving a rented BMW about 95mph and getting passed by a Lamborghini like I was in reverse. That was pretty awesome!
