For those of you, who perhaps aren't dialed into the onset of Football season and all the terminology appurtenant to it, "the rock" is slang for the football. Polls confirm that voters are set to hand the Republican party "the rock" - i.e., take the ball away from Democrats.
Each day it looks more like an avalanche for the Pachyderms, although, as I note in today's post, the GOP can always be counted on to find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
If you're strongly of the sentiment that Republicans embody everything that is virtuous on the political scene, then such news is no doubt euphoric.
If, on the other hand, you reserve a healthy sense of cynicism for politicians, who seduce the masses with their tongues, but who actually march to a different set of commands from the hierarchy of special interests, then maybe it doesn't seem time to hang the "Mission Accomplished" banner just yet.
Which is the point of my article. Politicians can and do say anything they think is music to your ears, but unless you can afford to put a full time Private Investigator on their tail, you don't really know what larceny they are engaged in. Therefore, "trust but verify".
No - scratch that. Don't trust, just verify.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I imagine you must be referring to me. The article was keying in on the Congressional elections. If the subject is Hillary Clinton as president, the answer is definitely not.
That hag would be the sequel to the Obama nightmare. Stay tuned DutchBoy, my next column has to do with Hillary’s twisted and completely dishonest take on what’s going on in Iraq and what caused it.
Maybe thats because dead people don’t poll.

"The rock", or the black spot?
But they vote. One of the things I read in media reports while assembling the article, was partisan Democrats lamenting that minorities don’t vote in Congressional election cycles in the numbers they do when a Presidential ticket is on the ballot. Sounds like another way of saying that they have less opportunities to “cork” the bat.
Wish I could be even a little optimistic that they won’t promptly fumble it. I’m not.
I’m not an optimist, or a pessimist. What I strive to identify is reality and it’s usually that which takes the most digging to uncover. What is found there, usually doesn’t sit will with the Obama-botz, the Clinton-botz, or even the Bush-botz.
They’ll just fumble 2 years down the field.
