Part 1: My Spirit is Broken: Will the New Statin Guidelines Do More Harm Than Good?
You use them or you die.
This is what a doctor told Sulette Brown, a psychotherapist from Oklahoma, when she balked at taking statins, after shed been rushed to the emergency room for a heart attack. Since that night, her life has changed in ways she could not have imagined.

Awfully fond of Canada Free Press, aren’t you?

One year ago my doctor put me on Atovastatin. That began three months of hell for me until I pulled myself off of that drug from satan. I will NEVER allow another Statin to be prescribed for me.
I experienced many of the side effects listed in the article. One strange one not listed was a severe change in the strength of my finger nails. I’ve been blessed with strong nails. I used to be able to cut heavy cardboard with my thumbnails. . . Who needed box cutters when you had nails as tough as mine? After taking that damn Statin for a couple of months, my nails started splitting spontaneously. My skin developed liver spots and blood would start leaking out of my hands spontaneously or with a minor bump.
Since I stopped taking Atorvastatin, my nails have returned to their normal box-cutting strength, my skin is no longer susceptible to bleeding or blood blooming, or bruising, or liver spots.
There were other severe side effects I won’t go into that almost lost me my girlfriend. All I can say to my fellow Freepers is NEVER allow your doctor to prescribe a Statin drug for you. In any case, it is not cholesterol that is the cause of chronic heart disease in any case. That was a wrong guess. There have been ZERO studies showing any relation between dietary cholesterol intake and blood serum cholesterol. Nor is there any relation to eating too much fat. We make our own cholesterol from eating too much carbohydrates.
While it can be interesting to hear someone's opinion of the messenger, it is far more interesting when accompanied by an opinion of the message.
Wow, I had no idea the side effects can be that bad. I’d rather watch my diet and excercise than have to take medication.
I’m missing something. Why is it a bad thing that Sean Anthony links articles from Free Canada press? I think they have lots of interesting articles including this one. Nothing too new but very worthwhile to get more people aware of how dangerous statins are and that the cholesterol story that is being peddled by the medical establishment is fallacious.
You don’t wonder why he ONLY posts articles from there?
My doctor put me on this about a year ago. I quit taking them after reading about the side effects. I also couldn’t stay awake, I was tired all the time. With my family history (Dad dead at 56, brother at 51 from heart attacks) I guess the doctor was trying to be proactive.
Deal with it.
Not until you shared your obsession, no.
Perhaps the poster is Canadian and likes FR.
You can like it three times a day and it still doesn't answer why the poster only posts from a single source.
Deal with it.
I am.
My doctor was a Cardiologist, teaching at the University of Miami. He put me on statins 30 years ago, sayingat that timeScandinavian studies were showing 20 years of excellent results. Back then, I had my blood tested every month for three months to check on liver reactions. Cleared (then) of any negative details, I've been on statins for 30 years. (Although I wasn't in the "particularly-high" range for cholesterol). I had a bout with high blood pressure, but I'm taking a very low dosage of lisoprinol, and seem to be doing well. My present doctor says to exercise moresomething in common with every doctor I've ever seen!
What I might not survive is Obama!
