Obama’s determination to downsize the military — and its catastrophic consequences
A bipartisan critique of the Obama administration’s 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) by the National Defense Panel is a devastating takedown of the administration’s determination to reduce America’s military to pre-WWII levels.
“Since World War II, no matter which party has controlled the White House or Congress, America’s global military capability and commitment has been the strategic foundation undergirding our global leadership,” the report states. “Given that reality, the defense budget cuts mandated by the Budget Control Act (BCA) of 2011, coupled with the additional cuts and constraints on defense management under the law’s sequestration provision, constitute a serious strategic misstep on the part of the United States.”

has never fought a war with victory as a goal, and as a result, its sovereign population no longer supports maintenance of a large and capable force, and, as a result, the force is being downsized.
I have never forgiven Jimmy Carter for that.
The problem with these policies is that the results won’t truly be known for years and then they will blame whomever is in the Whitehouse at the time. When you cut the military funding like this the programs that are cut first are the R&D on replacement systems. Next comes personnel cuts and finally support for existing weapons systems. It takes 10 years to spin up R&D and replace mid-tier NCOs and Officers. These are the people that actually do the work and are front line supervisors. In the meantime you’re trying to fight a war with 20 year old technology and kids drafted out of high school.
We would have a lot less war if the next time they want to draft, they drafted the sons and daughters of politicians FIRST. When they are all dead, then they could come for ours.
We like sacrifice free combat operations (I won’t call it a War since that requires an act of Congress as defined by the Constituion). No taxes, no draft...just a bumper sticker. The actual sacrifice is for other people.
I will...I'll encourage my grandson to not sacrifice his life for the likes of the immoral cabal in power now....not my grand daughter as well....

In this instance I have told my 22 year old son, now a senior in college, I would not recommend him going into the service, even though I spent 20 years in the Air Force. I wonder if we will ever get the rats out of power, with all the voter fraud and all those illegal alien rat voters streaming across our southern border.
The last thing we want is drafting females, if anything, a benefit of the draft would be to get rid of the females.
I agree, however, since we are instructed by our political class of untouchable overlords that women are equal in every way, there is no way that any of them - not even pregnant daughters of Congresswomen - should be exempt.
The first foot soldiers should be all of the military age sons, daughters, nieces and nephews of every politician that votes for war. Not cushy back office jobs or military band positions - but real bloody dirty fighting soldiers.
Things might be different if Hillary knew that Chelsea would be sent first, or if Obama's spawn would be on the front lines.
Every war since WWII has been a waste of lives for the 'glory' of idiot politicians. Politicians move chess pieces on a board, and our children die. Their kids never see a shot fired in anger.
