Finally after all these tragic stories, one happy little story for us all.> sarcasm off. The very idea of Fox News bringing up this sad, horrible story. It certainly must have been a slow news day.

Christians, Jews, Arabs, the whole of humanity being shot at, 300 innocents shot out of the sky ,political upheaval hasn't been this shaky since who knows when, the US is under duress from all, every direction, most of which we don't know yet, we have someone in office who has yet to conjure up his ultimate surprise he plans on springing on us and Fox news is worried, upset, spends time and resources on this poor lady's terrible ordeal having found morphine in one of her horses, the penalty of which is the very worst of everything that's going on, the damm horse, won't be able to race. Oh,the Hu-Manatee.

The woman is beside herself in grief and rightly so.

For you who have never been involved with the racing industry this may sound like a joke, but it’s not; it’s a very serious crime. Many, many millions of dollars are at stake. Not just the purses in this particular race, but there are tens of millions bet on the big British races. The horse industry is a large part of the UK’s economy. So if someone got to horses or the results of races are otherwise questionable, that has a significant impact on betting, breeding, and international sales (again, representing staggering amounts of money).

The queen is the head of British racing, so if her horses are involved it’s even worse—her trainers, jockeys, grooms, exercise riders, and other staff are the very best, and now they’ll all be under suspicion for committing a crime. Believe me, this is going to cause a police investigation and someone is going to jail. The effort involved in nobbling not just one but four closely guarded animals is remarkable, quite hard to imagine. It’s so hard to imagine that I wonder if the lab, or someone transporting samples to the lab, is the source of the crime.

Where have you gone, Dick Francis? Her Majesty’s dominions turn their lonely eyes to you, woo woo woo.

The horse has since checked herself into a rehab, and will hopefully be able to turn her life around.

There have been a number of positives in various stables for morphine lately. I find that odd.

Remember, a positive does not mean a therapeutic dose; it means morphine was found, possibly in extemely minute levels. I've done similar analyses, and the instrumentation is very sensitive.

The Queen does not play this game for gain; for her, it is a matter of --gasp-- honor and sportsmanship.

I suspect someone is adding minute but traceable amounts of morphine to selected horses' feed, or perhaps to their hay, just for the purposes of hellraising. These animals are typically watched closely prior to a race, & they will probably be even more closely watched now.

Okay, the world is burning and we are being invaded, and my heart is heavy with grief at so much that is going on. But I sympathize with the Queen in this matter.
