Your comment about rural Jews possibly being more Conservative made me chuckle.
The first thing I thought about was the Israeli kibbutzim, which are (usually) farming communities constructed on Marxist principles!
Yeah, I thought about those Jewish commune type things. I bet they don’t normally allow folks to join and live there if they don’t contribute in some fashion. At least that’s different from how the state handles its Marxist ideals.
I think most Amish don’t vote, but I have seen in a few places that supposedly the small % that do vote seem to vote republican. I know that when non-old order Mennonites get political they seem to go way to the left. I don’t think the old order Mennonites vote very often, just like the Amish. I wonder if the Kibbutz folks are big into voting one way or the other, or if they vote differently from individual Jews living in rural and urban areas.
