Thank you Sir, hate to admit I cry, but tears running down my cheeks.
I only said the best few minutes this week…….. Idid not over promise anything…..except to those drive by readers who skip two out of every three words and yet think they know what something is about.
The video is fine, but the set-up and production and video quality are really crappy. I think I’ve seen this video before, but without the drawn-out and cheesy (and grammatically incorrect) intro and music and outro.
The person who assembled this version tried too hard; the story itself can stand on its own without the over-the-top appeals to emotion.
Those who watched it agree with me. Those who haven’t agree with you. Those who watched it know what they’re talking about. Those who haven’t do NOT KNOW what they’re talking about . By definition. Period.
Do the math. Which is the valid opinion? The answer is easy.

How can they when there is still a week to figure out whether those are their best five minutes? Do the math!
Really? Is that the best you got? I gotta admit, I cannot relate to the left brained, type B bureaucratic mindset that is so imprisoned by literalness that they cannot step back and see reality. I mean, we need left brained type B bureaucrats in society, we just need them to shut up and do what the type A right brained big picture visionaries tell them to do. (that is actually a more profound statement about our country today than you know - not just about this conversation).
The music playing over this video is a Christian song (”My Redeemer Lives”). The text at the end implies that the father-son team is a testimony that “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
The thing is, the father-son team don’t appear to be in any way Christian. Some websites imply that they might be Mormons, but they don’t seem to promote Jesus in any way, either through their organization or in interviews. Their love for each other is admirable and touching, but their story doesn’t testify that “I can do all things through CHRIST,” as the video implies.
Their website — http://www.teamhoyt.com/ — seems to avoid referencing Christ, Christianity, their faith, or anything spiritual.
Bottom line: Someone wrapped a fine story of a father’s love for his son with a poorly produced and disingenuous attempt to touch hearts for Christ. The truth hurts, I confess; but that’s the truth.
Christ said that He is the Way, the TRUTH, and the life. If we embrace this video as being fully truthful, which it is not, then we denigrate Christ. Our emotions should follow truth; our sense of truth should not be influenced by emotions.
That’s fine….but you know, I viewed the video through my faith, not necessarily through the faith of the father/son. I also never made any claims in the original post about the Christian angle. This is powerful even for atheists IMO.
Now - If you want to dilute what you get out of it because you are suspicious of the faith of the characters in the video, knock yourself out. You’re only cheating yourself.
But either way, it’s a remarkable story

Sorry. I didn't mean to take anything away from the story. I was just having a hard time getting it to load but I could tell who it was about. I couldn't find another link to the same video so I posted one of the stories that I did find. They certainly are very special and admirable people. Thanks for the post.

Words mean things. I tend to take them literally. Shall I interpret your title as something less than literal?
Like I said, you are left brained, type B. Such folks find it impossible to understand how to communicate effectively - because they read every thing and hear everything as a legal document or specifications. But normal people don't communicate that way. There is sarcasm, nuance, rhetoric, analogy, etc.
so no, you shouldn't interpret my title any differently - the normal folks already have. Back to your cubicle.
Type “B” or not, I communicated effectively enough to rattle your chain in a fine way. Shall we figure type “A” brains are prone to hyperbole and overly sensitive?
