It is not often that you read of homicides in Japan that involve firearms. Firearms are tightly controlled; Japanese are some of the most law abiding people on the planet; and firearms have never been widely available.
It is not surprising that when such a homicide occurs, it involves foreigners. In this case, a Chinese man appears to be the perpetrator and a Chinese woman the victim. The article assumes that the victim was married to the man, but the police had not identified her. From japantimes.co:
The pair reportedly started to quarrel after entering the cafe together. At around 10:40 p.m., the man produced a handgun from his bag, stood up and shot the woman twice, in the jaw and the chest. She was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead.
Another unusual part of the incident is that the suspect remained silent:
The suspect remained silent during police questioning, according to investigators.
This is very unusual behavior in Japan, where suspects usually confess immediately. The police in Japan are not constrained by the U.S. Constitution, and have numerous ways to obtain confessions.
I suspect organized crime involvement. From scmp.com:
The suspect was not apparently employed and it is very unusual for a person to be carrying a gun, which are rare in Japan. The Ikebukuro district of Tokyo also has a reputation for gang activities and has a relatively high proportion of gambling and sex businesses.
In Japan, only the police and criminals have handguns.

I don’t feel guilty. I’m just aware of it.
More like a recognition of the differences in culture.
For instance; “The Chinese drive terrible”. Well, that’s true of Chinese immigrants but, not so of native born Americans of Chinese descent.
Arabs are aggressive and will drive anyone off the road. Not true of Americans of Arab descent.
generalizations of course but, we are culturally different.
Hondurans and Guatemalans are lazy and only come to America for our welfare system. Not true of Americans with their descent respectively.
Brazilians suck at soccer, Germans kill and excel in the sport. ..generally. ...

It’s very easy (90% of the time) to tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans on the streets of Tokyo, even from behind.

But what's "gross" about what I said? What aspect of what I said was "gross?"

I shouldn't have said "everyone." What I meant was that every culture in the world differentiates between its own characteristics, and those of outsiders. And, because of differences in understanding, those identified differences are often seen in a "normative" way, meaning people often think of the characteristics of their own culture as being superior to those of other cultures.
Also in every culture there are individuals who fight against the tendency to see the differences. There are also individuals who fight against the tendency to feel superior.
It seems to me that only in America (and to some extent in the UK and other northern European countries) do people push the idea that our culture is inferior to basically every other culture in the world.
To me, that seems like overcompensation for something.

After arrest the public prosecutor doesn’t even need to bring charges for something like 23 days —they can keep you up all night, night after night, questioning the suspect.
Confessions lead to conviction in
maybe 98% of the time.
If he never makes any kind of statement to the cops in that time then it’s very, very unusual.
