The U.S. Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday filed a complaint alleging that T-Mobile US failed to remove unauthorized charges on its customers phone bills.
The charges stem from text-message scams that send content like celebrity gossip to mobile devices. According to the complaint, T-Mobile received 35% to 40% of the total amount charged to users for the subscription, which costs $9.99 a month.
T-Mobile continued to bill customers for those services years after becoming aware of the fraudulent charges, the FTC said. The nations fourth-largest wireless carrier received a high number of consumer complaints as early as 2012.
In a statement, T-Mobile chief executive John Legere said the lawsuit is unfounded and without merit.(continued)

When my wife had Sprint, they were charging her almost every month for stuff she never bought. She had to call and contest it almost every single month. Eventually, they kind of backed off and didn’t do it to speak of anymore. They still suck, though, and she jumped ship as soon as she could.
A couple of years ago I noticed unauthorized charges and, after unsuccessfully trying to get them removed, I decided to quit T Mobil as I had long passed the time period they required before you could quit. That’s when the real war began!!! They are as dishonest as it gets.
John Legere is a die-hard liberal commie. He runs his business as a liberal: Unethically and illegally.
Verizon does the samething. I called after this happened to me. The support person just muddled around resetting some settings that are buried at the Verizon site for your account. I had to do a google search and found many others with the same scam happening to them. One guy posted screenshots showing where at Verizon to turn off features to block.
This was outright theft.
Family Tmobile thru w.mart is awful too. My dau. bought me a phone along with a month of usage. I hated the phone and took it back a few days later. Well, they charged me $3.00 per day just the same. Sent me a bill for $10.00 but wanted to charge me $5.00 to PAY THE BILL!
I told them to take their bill and stick it, that I would NOT pay them for the ‘privilige’ of paying my bill...I never did get another bill from them. 5 bux to pay a 10 buck phone bill?????
I have a problem with being charged a fee to pay any bill in the first place. But a 50% fee was just over the top.
I forgot to mention that I never did use the phone. I hated it’s file structure. The oriental brand sort of rhymes with ‘’who are we’’
:) a cheepie phone.
This happened to me, it was some time ago. I called to have the charges reversed and had no problem, I think there were something like 7 months of charges which was about 1.5 months of cel phone bill at the time.
Yeah, you gotta look at your bill. Do NOT be surprised if there isn’t a $9.99 charge there that you have zero idea what it is.
