So, provide me a bit of background here. An open primary means that you can vote in either the Republican or Democrat primary, but not both? Is it categorically and undeniably illegal to vote in both, or is it simply “not nice”?

I read somewhere amid all the threads here that in Mississippi, Democrats could only vote in the Republican primary if they planned to vote Republican in the general election.

Good luck enforcing that one.

If they voted in the Democrat primary they were not supposed to even get a ballot for the Republican run-off. On Tuesday there were sob stories running about a few people who had been "disenfranchised", but if you actually read to the last paragraph they had already voted in the Dem primary and were properly rejected from Tuesday's run-off.

I want to know how they were allowed to vote at all. Did Cochran have the poll workers primed to not look at their voting history?

Illegal. However the poll workers are supposed to stop this and ignorance of the law will be the defense for those who illegally voted twice. It will be difficult to prove “the guilty mind.” All will skate.

It’s illegal. Voting in both primaries is voting twice. One citizen, one vote is the rule. (Not that Democrats follow rules.)
