BOWE Bergdahl arrived in Afghanistan ready to kill. Like many soldiers heading into a war zone for the first time, the 22-year-old US army private was eager. As he and his unit prepared for battle in late 2008, he approached his squad leader at their Alaska military base with a memorable question.
The first thing he said was: Can I cut off the face of the first Taliban I kill and wear it like a mask? said Josh Korder, an army soldier who said he couldnt believe what he was hearing.
The bravado didnt last. The Private Bergdahls view of Americas war began to turn after his first big firefight on an Afghan mountainside in May 2009. A month later, after complaining about the armys strategy, he disappeared from his post.
Now that Sergeant Bergdahl, 28, has been released after nearly five years in Taliban captivity he was promoted during that time some of his friends and fellow soldiers are speaking out on the question at the heart of the controversial prisoner exchange that freed him: why did he vanish?
Ive been thinking about it since the day he left, Mr Korder said. Whered Bergdahl go?
Was he trying to switch sides? Did he want to leave the war behind and become a nomad? Was he betrayed by two Afghan police officers who Mr Korder said mysteriously fled the same outpost the day Bergdahl disappeared?
The answer rests with Sergeant Bergdahl, now lying in a US military hospital bed....

Sounds to me like the kind of thing you'd expect from a smug hippie-minded smirk-faced a-hole who entered the military for the benefits and maybe job security and found himself inadvertently in a whole new world--one he despised and held in contempt. What better way to pimp the system than to pretend to be a super duper killer freak. Shades of Arlo Guthrie.
My thoughts too. I have heard the stories (for years) that he was a deserter, or worse. Then, last week I saw his father send some creepy messages to the muslim world, from the White House. The whole family needs to be watched for the rest of their lives. They are not to be trusted.
That’s just creepy.
How about the photo from behind, I could’ve sworn he had his arm very low on her waist, like a beaux would do, not a stranger! I haven’t seen that one posted but I know I saw it.
I caught those and thought it very weird - she obviously has a thing for Muslim men but you know the Mooch ain’t gonna like seeing these....
Maybe he’s trying to get some hetero cred?
A genuine rooty toot.
