With “The Case for Reparations,” Ta-Nehisi Coates of the Atlantic sets slavery aside to focus on the long plunder of the 20th century, in which whites used coercion, violence, and government to exclude blacks from the bounty of American prosperity. The civil rights revolution of the 1960s was vital, but it wasn’t a panacea, and the problems of today—from the racial wealth gap to the crumbling ghettos of the Midwest—stem from the racist policies of our recent past. Or, as Coates puts it, “White supremacy is … a force so fundamental to America that it is difficult to imagine the country without it.”
This is more than rhetoric. Black families paid taxes and black soldiers fought for democracy in Europe and the Pacific, but—from low-interest home loans to money for education—they were barred from the benefits of the G.I. Bill. Indeed, the same federal dollars that built the suburbs were used to keep blacks out of them. It was the federal government that “pioneered the practice of redlining,” writes Coates, “selectively granting loans and insisting that any property it insured be covered by a restrictive covenant—a clause in the deed forbidding the sale of the property to anyone other than whites. Millions of dollars flowed from tax coffers into segregated white neighborhoods.” At the same time, “legislatures, mayors, civic associations, banks, and citizens all colluded to pin black people into ghettos, where they were overcrowded, overcharged, and undereducated.”(continued)

...and, things have gotten worse. My parents and I paid a great deal in taxes for the war on poverty, and frankly, the people and government who conducted the war did a spectacularly crappy job - the numbers speak for themselves. It’s too late for my mom and dad, but I would like a partial refund as -my- reparations, with, of course, interest. Because I am older, it would be most convenient if these started as soon as possible.
Flatly untrue, at least with regard to the education benefits. The program may have been administered unfairly, and blacks had difficulty accessing the programs for many reasons, including colleges that wouldn't accept them.
But they were not barred by law from the programs.
My relatives paid their own way to the United States.

The democrats believe in reparations. Their party is the one that stopped blacks from receiving 40 acres and a mule, so the democrats should be the one who pay. Works out perfectly. They believe it should be paid and they are the ones responsible for paying. I don’t see any problem here at all. They won’t have enough money to back any candidates for some time but they will be living up to their beliefs.
Stereotypes survive for a reason. If they weren’t valid in peoples minds they would be quickly forgotten as not relative.

Test each applicant's DNA to determine country of origin. Offer them reimbursement of moving expenses to that country.
If they prefer to stay in the USA, then chances are their situation is better than their counterparts who remained in Africa. No reparations needed in that case.

Read the whole article, then read about Ta Nehisi Coates, who wrote the treatise and you'll realize what's going on in our public schools, Black or African American "studies" in universities.
You will realize that there are a whole lot of blacks who really do think you've stolen from them and continue to do so today.
They believe that it is only "fair" that they get vouchers to live in the wealthiest communities in America, that we end all incarceration for drug infractions, that a large transfer of wealth from white Americans to black Americans, is not only fair but mandatory!
This isn't just about slavery in the past, it includes "redlining" neighborhoods, forcing blacks to pay taxes that supported segregated schools and neighborhoods.
This includes jailing blacks for using and selling drugs and other drug-related crimes, etc ad nauseum!
This dude has figured it out so that "white supremacy" continues right up to today and blacks deserve recovery and compensation in an ongoing manner to make up for the disparity, so long as you live!
