My idea was to create reservations for the truly homeless who aren’t insane. Let these reservations have the autonomy to create their own economies, let them govern themselves and just have enough official presence to keep the peace, investigate crimes and stuff.

Then why are we giving welfare handouts to the poor? They abuse EBT cards meant for buying food. Rather than enforce laws to target the public feeding the poor, target Washington to straighten out welfare laws. Set up food kitchens to feed the poor, don't just hand out cash that gets abused. I'd rather the poor get food on the streets than get insane cash handouts that are abused.

People giving out charity takes the bread out of the mouths of the government dependent drones that are paid to feed the homeless, since they likely get money depending on how many mouths they feed. Same reason they encourage kids to sign up for the free meals at school - it adds to their bottom line. You tax dollars at work....

I agree totally. Also, there are some people who just don’t WANT to be forced to live inside. The poor receive free medical care; ETB cards for food; and their rent money. Why do they refuse to take it?

This is part of a larger initiative - the government has been working to shut down independent food pantries, forcing them to tie into the FDA or shut down.

It is about health laws and being able to track food borne illnesses.

This isn’t ‘new’. These laws have been around for a long time.

You want to feed the homeless, then set up a legal feeding place that is inspected and can be tracked.

Ok, I am not fully sanctioning these laws but if you subsidize something you get more of it. If you want fewer homeless people and beggars pretending to be homeless you need to discourage it.

BTW, we didn't have a huge problem with homeless people until the Dims forced us to release the mental patients to fend for themselves in the 70’s.
