It shifted the federal tax burden in a manner to include taxing the bread [earned wages] which working people earned. But not to fret, it was sold to these poor souls as a “temporary” patriotic measure to fund the war! Unfortunately, our hard working people living in our nation’s inner cities, some of whom work two jobs with the hope of removing themselves from exiting conditions, find they are still to this day compelled to pay this temporary tax which is really designed to keep them bottled up in poverty and dependent upon government for their subsistence, and literally are forced to prostitute their vote for “free” government cheese
