Parents of murdered Special Operations Chief Aaron Vaughn, Navy SEAL, SEAL Team VI, are expressing chagrin at the political ploy being used by GOP front runner Carl Domino in the highly contested race to represent Florida’s Treasure Coast, District 18, in the US House of Representatives. “Americans have come to detest this level of arrogance…an ideology so sadly pervasive in politics today,” say Billy and Karen Vaughn, to Candidate Domino who posted an attack on his opponent, minority candidate Calvin Turnquest, on Facebook, on April 26. According to the Vaughns, Domino said of his opponent: “Unfortunately Calvin chose not to emulate me in service in the Armed Forces!” What the Vaughns now take umbrage with is Domino’s attempt to trade on his own military service by suggesting those who did not serve are somehow less worthy than those who did. Should politicians use their military service as a ticket to ride into Congress?

“Are we all lesser men and women because we chose not to EMULATE you,” the Vaughns ask Domino who...

Well I don’t know if what he said was smart, but I will not lie about it: military service DOES count for a lot with me when I am looking at candidates.

And I don’t apologize for it at all!

Me, I look at how they part their hair and if they have a nice smile. If their part is straight and they have clean white teeth that DOES a lot with me. Way down on my list are their views on issues and how they will vote.

This guy is a 70 year old busy body country clubber Investment Manager and ex FL. House member whose megalomania requires that he now venture forth and rule in DC.

Supports Jeb Bush too.

I agree. I would vote for a Veteran in a heartbeat over an elitist rich brat.

If two candidates are politically identical except for military service, I would vote for the one that had picked up a rifle and defended our great nation.

Hitler and Tim McVeigh were war heroes. Calvin Coolidge never served in the military.

This column appears to be a tempest in a teapot. This is Allen West’s former seat and he has chosen not to do a rematch. The republicans have a 2% edge, but with a democrat incumbent that would be hard to overcome.

There are six candidates running for the Republican nomination. Five of them have collectively rasied $764,000 vs Patrcik Murphy’s $2.8 million and he had $2.2 of that on hand at the end of March.

The article does not point out any connection between them or their son to district 18 or Mr. Turnquist. Most of the article is smear of Mr. Dominio.

Note, I do not live in Florida and have no horse in this race. Just pointing out bad blogging.
