The potential danger in the increasingly unstable regions of Ukraine has increased further on news that the countrys intelligence service intercepted people attempting to bring in 3 pounds of radioactive material into the country from a breakaway region of Moldova under the control of pro-Russia forces. The material, which could be uranium 235 was seized on April 30th.
Google translation:
Hazardous substance was imported into the territory of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian Ukraine Moldavian Republic on cars with foreign number. The radioactive substance was kept in a container craftsmanship.

Ruh roh.
Maybe the leader of the free world, the world’s lone superpower, should at least challenge the UN to fulfill its purpose and condemn foreign incursions into Ukraine.
Or not.

“which could be uranium 235”
Or, it could be something else, but U235 sounds scarier than Pm237 or Ba133.

This is probably a mafia deal gone bad. Transnistria is one of the great dump holes in all of Europe. Lots of crime, trafficking, etc.
Russian FSB has a lot of experience blowing things up. I don’t think they need a dirty bomb to kill a lot of people.

Putin is trying to get a feel for just how far and how fast he can push this. He has almost total support at home and his psyops is working well in the West. Can he sell an attempted nuclear attack from the Ukraine? He’s sold a lot of Americans and Europeans with the fascist Ukraine when that’s what he is the ultranationalist / crony capitalist.

Wouldn’t the point be terror and holding Ukraine hostage?
To: lodi90
Didn’t the Soviets dump a lot of their nuclear waste in Ukraine?

Yeah, on second thought maybe you are right. If Putin will dump Chechens on Ukraine he won’t have a problem hitting them with a WMD. What a sick tyrant he is.

Special political interests have been lying to us about the effects of nuclear weapons. Nuclear war is much more survivable than presented in their false scenarios! Have a look at the effects of one of the most powerful warheads--warheads that will not be used, because much smaller yields are much more practical (costs, delivery, concealment, lack of extra effects with higher yields, etc.).
http://glasstone.blogspot.com/2009/11/groupthink-and-proliferation-why.htmlDeclassified effects of nuclear weapons and other threats: minimizing weapons effects on civilians Can Britain and America prevail over an alliance of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea in WWIII? American sanctions on Japan in 1940 led to Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, so beware of the lessons of history Mr President, and get civil defense Wednesday, November 18, 2009
Evidence that inaccurate statements about weapons effects have historically caused increased threats to national security, instead of reducing them

which could be uranium 235If it is just radioactive waste then it is almost certainly not U-235. It could also be U-238 which is much more common than U-235.
